Somehow missed this:
Pakistan, home to more than 240 million people, is experiencing one of the most rapid #solar revolutions on the planet, even as it grapples with poverty and economic instability.
Suddenly about half the country’s electricity comes from solar. It’s not industrial solar farms or state-led: it’s a bottom-up revolution: households fed up with rising power costs and blackouts buying what are now ridiculously cheap solar panels.

🎇 Help save Philly's local solarpunk bookstore! Iffy Books, which has offered everything from books on permaculture to first aid workshops to open hours for soldering assistance, needs your help. Please share this letter widely!
I've been grateful for the opportunity this space offered me to rekindle my relationship with digital art for merch and run solar art and queer zine workshops. Iffy Books is irreplaceable in our community. To keep offering programs and resources that foster climate activism, right to repair, and skill sharing in Philly, we need to take action now.

Data centers approved, solar farms rejected: What is going on in rural Virginia? • Virginia Mercury
Localities have continued to approve new data center proposals with little thought given to where and how they will get the power to serve them.Ivy Main (Virginia Mercury)
#solar vagabond. My posts are now outdated hamishcampbell.com/?s=solar+la… the issue you need is a panel with a "real USB-C PD" rather than just normal USB with a C socket and no PD, then you need to find a battery bank with "power pass-through" and 2 USB-C PD sockets - this is the hard part. And yes you can do it with normal 2amp 5v USB, but his will be battery assist more than power. It will work'ish but lead to premature battery wear all round.
in 2013, coal generated 175 times as much electricity as #solar power in the US. Within a decade, in 2022, coal was generating less than 5 times as much electricity (incl. estimated rooftop solar).
So far this year, coal has generated slightly more than twice as much electricity as all solar.
Coal is dying here but needs to die even faster.
