Scientific American delivers a scathing article about the theologists holding the majority in the US Supreme Court. Itโs so good, and so tightly written, that itโs difficult to pull an excerpt without wanting to also include the lead in and follow up. Iโll tempt you with some opening paragraphs, but the article is brilliant and deserves to be read.
โIn five instances, Justice Neil Gorsuchโs opinion confused nitrogen oxide, a pollutant that contributes to ozone formation, with nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas.
You canโt make this stuff up. This repeated mistake in the 5โ4 decision exemplifies a high court not just indifferent to facts but contemptuous of them.โ

There is a bit of real money involved by miners who have purchased ungodly amounts of computing power, and who have to work to get their money back plus profit. After all bitcoin is based on proof of work.
But the value of bitcoin is still based on the value of privacy of transactions. That's why cash was invented.
Somebody send me a bitcoin receiving address or QR code and i'll send you $20 worth, just for giggles. It's just funny money to me now that it has appreciated 100 times what i invested (20 cents x 100 = $20).
Easy, just download a wallet app (or get account on coinbase), set it up and generate a receiving address. Hard part for converting to dollars is you have to sign up to an exchange, like coinbase, then you have to set up a wire transer to a bank to deposit cash. Or just let it sit for 5 years and it will be worth 10 times that much, lol.

I know people who sell these sorts of collectibles for good money.
I am terrible at selling things, even when I could use the financial boost.
But I have to get rid of stuff swiftly in order to fit into the new house in less than two months.
I am feeling overwhelmed. I am also feeling sad that I may have to throw out things just because I don't have the time to place them with people who will appreciate them.

in reply to Muse • • •@Muse - in most law courts there is an opportunity to cross examine a witness. That can really be a ripping experience to the person being cross examined, even if they are telling "the truth" - there are always details that people mis-remember or mis-articulate.
Expert witnesses in trials have to jump through some extra hoops to demonstrate that they really are experts.
People who hear things need to learn to take a large dollop of caveat emptor syrup in the morning - but too many of us do not or do not even know to be skeptical of much of the material that is presented to us. That's a weakness in our educational system and much of the way we raise kids.
(I was raised, and trained, to ask questions until I felt I understood a thing. That drove some of my professors crazy - I felt "hey, you work for me, so I am going to squeeze knowledge out of you whether you like it or not." Some of my professors loved it; it gave them a chance to really strut their stuff.
