Three years ago today, the Trump-made Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and plunged the country into an ongoing abortion access crisis. For many MAGA Republicans, it was a lifelong goal finally accomplished -- one Trump gleefully claimed credit for.

What happened next was something MAGA folks never saw coming. We reminded them that Americans, even many lifelong Republicans, really don’t like when our bodily freedoms are taken away.

All over the country -- from battleground states like Arizona to “deep red” ones like Kansas and Missouri -- people rose up to beat abortion bans back at the ballot box. And in communities nationwide, healthcare providers, activists, and community leaders came together to help keep abortion care available to those who need it, no matter where they live.

Trump and Republicans saw our power, and suddenly they weren’t so eager to talk openly about their abortion bans. But MAGA attacks on reproductive freedom haven’t stopped or slowed. They’ve simply become quieter and more insidious.
Emerging attacks on reproductive freedom

Since Trump retook office in January, hundreds of attacks on reproductive care -- many that could effectively create “backdoor abortion bans” -- have been launched by his administration or his lapdogs in Congress. They include:

~Abandoning a key lawsuit to defend emergency abortion procedures
~Launching a bogus “safety review” of medication abortion (Mifepristone) to manufacture cover for potential future bans, as envisioned by Project 2025
~Exploring methods to misuse a 150+ year old federal law to criminalize sending Mifepristone through the mail
~Rescinding guidance reminding hospitals of their duty under federal law to provide emergency abortions when needed to stabilize patients
~Attempting to defund Planned Parenthood via the reconciliation bill, which could force ⅓ of clinics nationwide to shut down
~Advancing a bill to repeal the FACE Act: the only federal law protecting reproductive care facilities from violence and terrorism
~Pardoning over twenty anti-abortion extremists convicted of violating the FACE Act

That’s a very, very partial list of ways that Donald Trump and his MAGA minions are knocking on the door of a new wave of abortion bans and roadblocks. Their efforts are often covert, insidious, relentless.

How to fight back

We’ll level with you. The clearest path to guaranteeing abortion access and full reproductive freedom nationwide is a pro-choice president and pro-choice majorities in Congress who will pass and sign nationwide protections.

But there are still powerful and meaningful actions that you can take to defend reproductive freedom today! Here are some ways to take action right now:

📞 Call your GOP senators to oppose their Medicaid-slashing megabill. That bill includes buried provisions to defund Planned Parenthood, undermine abortion care coverage for folks with ACA marketplace insurance, and put reproductive care out of reach for millions.
