Netanbombyou will find an excuse (as will Hamas), just as they always do.
It has nothing to do with a cease-fire or working towards peace. They're committed to their grudges against each other, no matter what the people say.

Thing was, Dad's alcoholism had become a problem, so there were a lot of things going on at home.
Senior year, Dad got sober. I took AP History, aced it. Took an elective from my Chemistry professor on Bronowski's The Ascent of Man, and we had some interesting discussions.
Adulthood, I learned Chyron by reading the manual. I learned about the newsroom computer by following the installers (because all of the 'superusers' were 10-7 middle managers, and there was no one on the night shift, so I asked basic things like, 'How do I fix a frozen terminal?'). And, as I've noted before. did so many things that it sometimes took 2-3 people to replace me when I went on vacation (editing, video producer, show playback, microwave/satellite transmission).

Oh man can I identify with that!!
There was no 'honors program' but there were 'advanced' classes in math and science which some 5 or so students were enrolled.
I was so excited to go to college and study physics!!!! It all fell apart in my second year due to drugs and partying etc. Sure wish I'd held it together but it is all good. Learning! Learning! Learning!... from physics I went into psychology and came within a semester of getting a BA in psychology (the interest of which had started in high school with a great teacher Mr. Lively) but then became discouraged when I realized that a BA in psychology was virtually useless and I dropped out....came back a few years later in new place, new state, new school and went into Electrical Engineering and Computer Science ...and after many years of part time while working got my EE degree. ๐

At least one of the kids, younger than the rest, super accomplished and accepted into Ivy League killed himself. I never got a vibe from him that he was troubled, but he was pretty relentless to be good at everything he tried.

One Operations Manager (a former Marine) took a look at what I could do and asked, "What the hell are you doing on weekends?" (He was later canned for 'spending too much money' and 'poor decisions,' because he upset the status quo.)

That WAS the relentless part. I have an uncle who is a respected scientist. I remember when my cousin came home to him with his report card, proud of his accomplishments: he had all A's except one B in math. My uncle punished him for that B. As I said, we were treated like dancing monkeys.
