in reply to Bogart

sí, entendemos, pero sí es necesario crear conciencia del consumismo inherente a la cultura digital, mostrar qué hay detrás, no es lo mismo usar una cosa que otra, las necesidades creadas y las afectaciones allá donde no miramos...

A Malaysian Pied-Fantail (Rhipidura javanica) spotted at Coney Island, Singapore, on 31 Oct 2021. It fanned its tail somewhat, but I haven't got it in full 'crazy' mode yet. 🙂

In the local Malay language, its name is Murai-Gila Biasa, or Ordinary Crazy-Magpie.

We have Rufous, and Grey Fantails here, and luckily I have got shots of both fanning their tails. (although the grey one was a bit far away).

Dude gets fired.

Recruiter gets him an interview... with the firm that fired him.

He goes. And interviews.

Delightful.

An overview of Moscow State University student-run network, as described by one of its network engineer.

It is as hilarious and jury-rigged as you can imagine.

This is a picture of the first moments of a nuclear explosion taken in 1952. The blast radius at this moment is less than 20 meters wide.

There are so many extraordinary things about this photo. First off the fact that they had a camera in the 1950's capable of such insanely high speed frame rates (they created a movie from this) that it was capable of 1,000,000 frames per second. In many ways that is more impressive than the nuclear bomb itself.

Second the fact that you can see, in real time, a nuclear explosion as it happens. Those spikes at the bottom are called the "rope trick effect" which is caused by the support cables inside or holding up the bomb. The light radiation is so intense it vaporizes anything nearby causing things to explode just from the intensity of the light itself (before radiation has any effect at all). So those spikes are literally just the support cables exploding in the extraordinarily bright light from the bomb.

Incredibly exciting to get official confirmation that Germany's health service (@gematik1@twitter.com) has standardised on Matrix for secure decentralised communications, targeting all 150,000 healthcare organisations in Germany(!!!) 🤯 Read all about it at matrix.org/blog/2021/07/21/ger… 💉🇩🇪🚀

Currently you can find my videos on PeerTube on two instances:

peertube.kx.studio/video-chann…

share.tube/c/unfa_channel/vide…

I am manually mirroring videos there so in case something's missing - let me know.

For a while SepiaSearch.org was useful and by typing in "unfa" you'd find my videos, but not any more.

Friends, I'm getting serious about sharing my fiction writing, and I'd like to ask for your support.

I've re-launched a Ko-Fi page, as the vibe is much better than Patreon, and planned an entire series of posts and excerpts, and even videos, to share the novels that I'm working on.

ko-fi.com/erosdiscordia

All the posts about my writing process will be free to read, always. But I would also put to good use any donations or memberships you'd like to give, too, especially right now.

Having modern-enough tech to get a work from home job, being able to keep studying IT and infosec (and a language!), even the hosting and domain to start building this fictional world its own online home -- it stays just out of financial reach, and that's frustrating.

Whatever you can spare helps, even $1 a month. And this time, I'm nervously excited to share something with you in return! :ablobdj:

So if you like queer-centered science fiction and fantasy -- or even if you're just nosy about what my desk looks like this week -- please do stop by.

Boosts are appreciated!

Here's a longish academic article I recently finished. It has more stuff on the #demoscene than #permacomputing, although it also includes some permacomputingish visions for the future.

so far my experience of being an artist is "wow everything sucks" at the beginning of a picture and "holy fuck i can draw??? sort of???" at the end

an experiment in adapting my style to colour

Finally, after all these years, I am getting into the dark arts of FFT. A first attempt, triggering sounds in #supercollider and visuals in #openframeworks with #minibees, sending a downsampled version of the oF visuals to a max patch, extracting one channel from whatever is generated with the oF visuals and sending it back to SC, where it becomes the magnitudes of an FFT chain. Phew!

I believe this is what you are looking for ;)

Also for liability sake: we're not responsible if you break something from doing this. You have the right to mod hardware you bought, but this isn't officially supported. 😀

Thanks. This requires soldering (not mentioned in the pmOS issue), so that's a definite no for me.

This article is a good overview of some of the problems with neo-darwinism: panspermia.org/neodarw.htm

Darwin, as mentioned before, might himself have accepted the results that Dr. Hahn discovered and personally presented to him.

Yet, we continue to ignore the most logical interpretation of the evidence to the detriment of scientific progress.
