How to install a cloud service at home: It's easy!

I can confirm it's easy - especially in the age of Docker. Quite extensible, too!

Pro tip: Store the data on a RAID from the get-go. Then if you ever run out of space, you can just extend it by adding more drives via the host OS, or move to larger drives.

this is exactly what I predicted would happen when canonical went public. Now I gotta recommend LMDE to my friends or hope Fedora changes it’s name so my friends don’t make fun of it as much.

is there a reason a lot of these launches seem to happen in the middle of the night? or do they happen at all times and i just seem to be noticing the night ones?

#TIL that, when using #NextCloud Desktop, unchecking the sync check box for a file or directory will permanently delete it.

And, no, it's not a bug. It's a feature. 🤡

well, it's kind of a hard problem. If you would keep the folders, then users end up having folders in their sync folder that aren't actually being synced. This is just as much a potential for problems. Which solution is most 'sane' one can debate forever.

However, when a folder hasn't yet been synced, unchecking it should not cause data loss, that's something that should be fixed...
