Critical thoughts:
1. The fact that the new fees *only apply to 2024.1 and later* is the critical change here, and probably(?) avoids a lawsuit. This *will* have interesting ecosystem effects since many people will now want to stick on 2023.4 indefinitely. Possibly, libraries will latch to 2023.4 and never update.

This fundraiser is from a year ago and I have only just tried getting past the halfway mark since my last job ended.
Looking to raise $4000 to give to my landlord. Hoping to be back to work within the next month.
Legally, my landlord cannot demand rent on a building that is in violation of its certificate of occupancy. Legally, they can still evict tenants.
While I am disgusted by this imbalance of power, I want to have a home. I don't want to move again. This would be 40+ in the move count for me, and somewhere in the teens for my preteen kid.

wlroots has some *interesting* constraints that prevent it from using the solution everyone else uses, notably that Sway wants everything going through Wayland IPC rather than reusing other stuff when available.
