Hey all, NightBlade here. Most of you know me from Twitter. I'm a solo evenings/weekends #IndieDev #GameDev dad. I mostly make smaller 2d pixel art games.

Currently wrapping up #GemWorlds for release on Steam: Linux, Windows, and MacOS. Inspired by the #puzzle games Supaplex and Boulder Dash from my youth, with a mixture of #roguelike elements and a touch of minimalism.

Amid Evil is one of the best games I played on my new Steam Deck so far. Not sure why, but it feels more at home than Doom 2016, for example.

This would be a really really good time to support the admins of the Mastodon server you're on.

Find their support links, chuck them at least the price of a coffee each month.

Putting my money where my mouth is.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Most servers have 2 patreons, one for server costs, and one little tip jar for the admin.

Most instance admins won't take money for themselves from the server cost patreon, so if you want to support your instance admin, be sure to chip in for them, too!

Good to hear. I'm not sure if Matrix.org is having any needs right now regarding that. I'm not sure what my current support for them is right now either. I *was* supporting them on liberapay, and ... I may have allowed it to lapse.

Totally, totally pathetic. Twitter is no longer allowing promotion of "prohibited 3rd-party social media platforms" like Instagram, Mastodon, Facebook, Post, etc. Free speech! help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-…

There's an Elon tweet for every shitty move he does.

So about banning a bunch of other social networks now in place on Twitter.

Well...

Here it is. My first ever post on Mastodon. I wanted to make sure I got off on the right foot here, so I’m including a “Cat Pic” as my offering to the Social Media Gods. We shall see if they are appeased.
Bruno eyes a beautiful glass ornament from his perch 2/3rds off the way up our Christmas tree. There are no more glass ornaments in our tree, he got 3 later that night. The rest went back in the box.
Let’s just say, I’m early for next week’s #Caturday.

Wonder what it’s like to be on the Moon? #Apollo17 astronaut Harrison Schmitt said:

“Working on the Moon is a lot of fun. It’s like walking around on a giant trampoline all the time and you’re just as strong as you were here on Earth, but you don’t weigh as much.” #Apollo50th

Smartest thing NASA ever did, putting Jack Schmidt on the moon.
in reply to NASA

Watching the moon walkers, I wondered about this. We'd see them bounce about, but always very gingerly, and no one does the great leaps that early SciFi movie astronauts enjoyed.

You do weigh less yet have the same strength, but you also still have the same inertial mass. Wouldn't that cause problems when stopping or turning?

It's like the great spinning space stations. Who would have thought the coriolis effect would pose such a problem?

Various people have been talking about a gathering of cooperative and collectively owned and operated instances (mostly here: matrix.to/#/#democratic-fedive…)

I set up a public Loomio subgroup on the social.coop Loomio for organizing an initial event.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in helping to organize this event for early 2023, please join this subgroup.

Admins or active members from #Black, #BIPOC, #Disabled, #Feminist, #LGBTQ+ instances please take a look.

@luka In fact, I'm not sure that following @fionnain does actually follow my Bookwyrm account. Seems I have to approve a follow, and I have no idea how/where to do this (no option on Bookwyrm as far as I can see). I guess this involves linking the accounts somehow, but I have no idea how...

As somebody that has been using forums for as long as I can remember, I can honestly say that the #GamingonLinux forum is one of the most welcoming I have ever had the honor of participating in… Granted, I’m not there very often, but whenever I am, I am always impressed at how friendly and helpful most members are. I don’t always agree with Gaming on Linux’s choices or opinions, but I rate their forums as some of the best, especially within the #Linux Community.

A lichen that is coloniser and collaborator, teaching me something about porous edges and permeable places. Apparently, after growing for thousands of years, they create spaces where they (co)exist.

There is a lot to unpick here, and a lot to learn.

@mycorrhiza the lichen keep tricking me too, creating shapes that seem familiar when I look at them for too long. I am pretty sure they are doing this to offer some perspective on how we all live on this small rock-in-space, but I haven't been able to understand yet. Hopefully some day.

Then and now.

Servius' list of the Pignora Imperii shoud be corrected, according to Falconet: I am convinced that instead of acus matris Deum, one should read caus, the same word as cautes.

From Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pignora_…

The first item on the list: "The needle of the Mother of the Gods (Acus Matris Deum), kept in the Temple of Cybele on the Palatine Hill."

No not a needle, but a stone, indeed, a meteorite.

Dominance Rituals
What Elon Musk is doing with Twitter and journalism is a dominance ritual much like the ones the 45th POTUS was pulling. The best response is to leave Twitter and ignore the Mediocre Bond Villain #MBV.

in reply to Muse

Agree....the media was complicate with Trump all the time he was president. They should have held him to account or blackballed him but they were too concerned about their audiences/advertisers/$$$$
in reply to Muse

I fear we no longer have real journalism anymore, just word processors to the big bucks. No one ever asks the right questions ...If I can think of them then these so called journalists are just ass kissers

Art Trend of 2022: How AI Art Emerged and Polarized the Art World

Artificial intelligence has been around for years, but AI-generated artwork has really taken off in 2022. With its growing presence and its rise in implementation, AI has proven to be a powerful yet controversial tool in the art world. Its use leads many to ask several questions: Is it art? Is it cheating? And who does the credit go to?
