The IVR cheat sheet, which became GetHuman, sounded great in principle but hasn't worked well in practice.

I don't think hacking IVR systems is the answer. Maybe AI-supported human agents? If that's what laivly.com are going for I hope they succeed.

this is one thing I really like about Ting mobile. You call and get a helpful person and problems get fixed. It is actually a pleasure.

@ntnsndr And that right there is the kind of recommendation that would persuade me.

Maybe this isn't about adversarial tech, but rather just doing the right thing and making noise about it.

Two successive atmospheric rivers hit California this month, bringing rain, snow, and strong winds. On March 16, NASA’s Terra satellite acquired this false-color image where snow is light blue, water dark blue, and vegetation green.

We need help to write this funding fundpro.se/calls/2400 for these two #openweb coding projects:

unite.openworlds.info/Open-Med… for the #OGB

And

visionon.tv/w/jqTdss1qrdk4yEZi… for #indymediaback

We are starting the codeing on both, and funding would make this go much better.

Minimum wage around the world.

This map displays values for one month of minimum wage in 67 countries converted to U.S. dollars as of 2023.

Created by Marcus Lu & Sam Parker for Visual Capitalist. Details at visualcapitalist.com/minimum-w… #economy #data

in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

@kudra The article says “Generally speaking, developed countries have a higher cost of living, and thus require a higher minimum wage”.

That’s very true. So why doesn’t it take that into account?

For instance, it shows that US min wage is 4.5 times that in Mexico. But cost of living in the US is 2-3x higher on basic goods and housing. And even simple health care like a dental cleaning is 4x higher in the US. So while minimum wage is still better in the US, the difference is not nearly as large as this implies.

in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

how peculiar that Denmark is not included... With a minimum wage of 2865 USD

We put together an article on "operational security" for Mastodon users.

distro.f-91w.club/masto-opsec/

Many new anarchists + their friends are coming over to Mastodon, but may not fully understand the different posting privacy levels, what locking your account means, who can see what, etc.

This article tries to cover all the different settings you can configure as a best practice, and also advice on how to use your Mastodon account safely given your personal goals and situation!

Typos or feedback welcome!

in reply to fedizine

you should do nothing you don't want to end up in public view with any setting on mastodon, it's a #openweb application, so think of it as media. Please keep this in mind when adviceing people on security thanks #OMN

The rate of sea level rise has more than doubled since 1993. Using a 30-year satellite record, @nasa is helping researchers and coastal planners track how much rise is happening so that we can prepare for where sea level rise is headed.

Details: go.nasa.gov/3yN1hkM
#NASAEarth

This graph shows data from five successive satellites, beginning in 1993. The solid red line shows the trajectory of rise from 1993 to 2022, illustrating that the rate of rise has more than doubled. By 2040, sea levels could be 3.66 inches (9.3 cm) higher than today.
