On his birthday, we remember the legendary John Glenn. One of NASA's first 7 astronauts, Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth in 1962 and the first astronaut to be elected to Congress in 1974.

The future is full of questions for us earthly life-forms. How far can we take our search for life elsewhere? Which new technologies are best for detecting life? Could we ever visit planets beyond our solar system? @nasa is looking for answers.

This Captain's log early in "The Best of Both Worlds I" is unusually long. It is so long that two separate external beauty shots of the USS Enterprise-D were needed to get enough time for the whole log. 😅

never noticed that it was Admiral Hanson. I’m guessing it’s just a coincidence and no connection to Seven?

Earlier today at #almalinux we patched CVE-2023-38403 in iperf3 and released it prior to anyone else in the EL-ecosystem. We promptly submitted PRs with #centos and #fedora.

A lot was learned during this process so we can nail down the processes of doing our own patches while contributing upstream and ultimately deliver on our promises from almalinux.org/blog/future-of-a…

Sonequa Martin-Green absolutely crushes it in this episode. Gut wrenching performance through and through. Top tier and at her best. CAPTAIN MICHAEL BURNHAM.

seriouslyyyy!! Gah that episode was such an emotional rollercoaster and her acting was superb

This didn't come with who wrote it. I heartily agree. Does anyone know who the author is?

As the evening drew to a close, audience members filed slowly out of the room, with a few stopping to exchange a private word with LeFebre.

Plastic Barbies are an environmental issue. In parts of the world amigurumi (a type of textile art) Barbies are a thing! I'm sure this doesn't please Mattel, but maybe they should think about making their own.

@Isaac Kuo

Don't underestimate the machines of the textile industry. Here is an example of how to knit a bunny with a toy knitting machine.

there are computerized knitting machines and up to now programming seems to be the hardest part:

it would be good to have a video contrasting this with “same amount of distance” in Europe & Japan to see what the future could hold.

The good thing about having two #Linux distros on your computer is that you can compare general graphics performance. It's especially true when one distro is has rolling release while the other is more of an LTS kind.

If anyone is wondering how google is doing, it is giving incorrect answers to the query “How old is the Universe?”

Instead of serving up scientific consensus (just shy of 14 billion years) it is latching onto recent media coverage of a questionable study (tired light, time-dependent coupling constants) claiming a much larger figure.

Notably, it gives me the right answer from an incognito window. But elevating popularity metrics over scientific consensus is a real problem!

I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 13 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle so hard to comprehend large numbers.

Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.
