in reply to Muse

Oh I agree Muse, it's just as wrong with any animal. It just seems to me that there is a certain amount of hypocrisy between dog people and cat people.
in reply to Muse

I like animals. Pretty much all animals. I might make an exception for mosquitoes, but generally speaking. Our breeding has done horrible things to many domesticated animals including cows, chickens, pigs, etc. Industrialisation and capitalism have had us turn living beings into things for use. The cycle of life can be brutal, but that is no excuse for our making it even more brutal by not extending empathy to the rest of our living family, and therefore treating them with dignity and respect. A number of Native American Indian tribes pray not to a god at a meal, but give thanks to and ask forgiveness of the animals they must kill to eat.

'Otto Hahn, who remained in Berlin, was so dependent on Meitner that he continued to collaborate with her, even after she’d fled to Sweden. He sent her the results of their experiments on postcards via courier. It was Meitner, not Hahn, who analyzed the results and discovered that they had split the atom. It was Meitner, not Hahn, who coined the term for her discovery—“nuclear fission”.

@textualize Okay, it's early days yet with this project and much left to fix, but hope others will pile in and help out! If you would like to add this project to be aggregated by the "Good First Issues" project at hpc.social/projects/good-first… (scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the part directed to maintainers), we'll see if we can get some folks to help out with this.

Speaking of meta: cover story on InsideHPC right now is a new episode of the @HPCpodcast about HPC.social and the digital platform that @vsoch and @AlanSill have created. Check it out:

in reply to Shahin

lol @ your podcast "we had to kick some people off Mastodon".

Are you guys ever going to stop being jealous of Twitter or tire of censorship or your loss of it X?

In my opinion, hpc.social Mastodon is a joke. You censored nothing or kicked no one off anything except your own clique. I truly believe you do not understand federation.

in reply to IntenseWebs

As mentioned in the podcast, we kicked no one off for their opinions, only removed accounts from our own instance for violating the terms by abusing the platform to advertise unrelated (and to be clear, they were completely unrelated) items such as betting parlors, NFTs, etc. Not sure why you chose to make this comment but please get in touch directly if you have something to discuss.

in reply to Alan Sill

This is not true. The op, whomever it is, does indeed censor and limit some users with who he disagrees, even though they have not technically violated the terms and conditions. They are left in a state of no one being able to see their posts. I know this for a fact, as my old account was one of those accounts.

In other words, those who run and frequent hpc.social are censoring hypocrites. Enjoy your clique.

in reply to IntenseWebs

I received the private replies just now. Again, in private, showing your deceptive practices of censorship.

All they do is summarize what I stated. My account was limited due to disagreements with my statements, not due to violations of terms and conditions.

All my statements stand and Mastodon is no better than Twitter/X. In fact it is like the the Pre-Elon X with full censorship of opposing views and limiting of accounts with those with which you disagree.

in reply to Alan Sill

I will let you know when I'm done.

Just wanted to point out the B.S. hypocrisy...
