Extremely tasty, didnβt quite get the custard consistency right, and my torch is out of gas so I had to use the grill which isnβt quite as effective.
Appelflappen (or apple filled doughnuts) served with home-made Hazelnut ice-cream.
NB: these are called Apple Beignets in the south of the Netherlands and in Belgium, but in the North where my Grandparents are from, they're Appelflappen.
The pie inside. Worked pretty well. I think 6 apples instead of four might have been better, and while the 25% rye flour in the pastry was a nice change, a lighter full white pastry might have suited better. #dessert #pie
