Three years ago, #FDroid had a similar kind of attempt as the #xz #backdoor. A new contributor submitted a merge request to improve the search, which was oft requested but the maintainers hadn't found time to work on. There was also pressure from other random accounts to merge it. In the end, it became clear that it added a #SQLinjection #vuln. In this case, we managed to catch it before it was merged. Since similar tactics were used, I think its relevant now

:fdroid: Happy #FDroidFriday!

🏆 This week I thought I'd share my new found fondness of Binary Eye. If you want more control over the process of scanning barcodes, I can't recommended this tool enough. Very powerful and flexible!

What #FDroid apps have you found useful this week?

#Gadetbridge 0.78 is now available in #fdroid. It fixes the OTA with #InfiniTime and also integrates the new weather service added in InfiniTime 1.14!

#pinetime @PINE64

#fdroid versions aren't affected, updates disabled.

This is where #foss and #gplv3 shines: when a developer does something like this, just fork the repository and carry on.

@ntnsndr @efoundation I don't know much about how their app works, but I can tell you that #FDroid takes privacy, security, and transparency very seriously, for example https://f-droid.org/docs/Security_Model

@ntnsndr @efoundation /e/ foundation prioritizes ease of use over #FreeSoftware, they are more about being #Google-free. If you want human-reviewed Free Software, then stick with f-droid.org as your only app source. The official #FDroid client provides free software, as easy as possible.

And don't forget the downloads from #fdroid !
