The 'ten-minute edit' I did to finish a package on the morning we switched to our video server for playback was because I'd spent 20 years editing, progressing from an inexperienced novice to proficiency on a new non-linear system.

The photographer who couldn't complete the package hadn't practiced with the new system/program, even though we had on-site instructors working with us for over a month.

Mark In, Mark Out, Edit. Do it until the keystrokes become familiar. (It's not unlike touch-typing.)

I did feel sorry for Greg (I'm a computer geek, after all, and a gamer), and said so to the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer, but they said, "That's on Greg."

Welp, it’s early March in the Midwest & the ticks sure seem to be enjoying the warm temperatures.
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

One of the many reasons why I take climate change personally. I HATE ticks!
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

I think that needs a content warning!
With a mild winter in the UK we fear another bad tick year. Absolute horrors. We love to walk fluffy bear in the woods, but have to stay on wide paths in a tick summer.

Out in #ProcB: "Advances in understanding bat infection dynamics across biological scales", a review of what's known and what's not about viral circulation and spillover in bat populations. A great synthesis emerging from U.S.-South Africa partnership, led by EcoHealth Alliance's Cecilia Sánchez!

@Stamets Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like this is the case for a lot of people -- they just need a hand from someone who actually cares.

Someone could have wanted something like this in a corner for the look of it. A young artist may have created this for a university project: I have seen things like this happen.

Note to ugly American tourists. Kyoto is not an amusement park (as the mayor said).
I guess NASA is modifying the trees to make them bloom earlier every year.
