The fossil fuel industry is preparing to do worse than let pilgrims die of extreme heat.

They plan on letting 1 billion people die of famine by 2050.

They plan on having 1.2 billion climate refugees by 2050.

They plan on torpedoing every liberal democracy.

They plan on having more zoonotic pandemics.

Scary and worth knowing about.
I remember encountering this with some post-modernists. It was scary how people were so impressed by someone with a vocabularly of three to four syllable words, but nothing real to say.

in reply to Muse

"Vocabularly", now THAT's an interesting word! I wonder what it means? A finger having a good time bouncing on the "l" key?

I think there's a new image format that's not rendering on pods that haven't updated yet.
in reply to Muse

Yes, images are now converted to webp to save space.

I call this "kittification"!
in reply to Muse

Did both. Still not seeing it. May have to wait for David to update.
in reply to Muse

Yeah, it might be an issue with still running the older version of Diaspora on your pod.

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC update causing problems on Steam Deck / Linux - breaking online play and controls gamingonlinux.com/2024/06/eldeโ€ฆ

I had that problem, but after I installed the DLC online features worked again. I don't know if they fixed it or if its a problem only if you don't have the DLC.

I've added support for the fediverse:creator tag to our articles (github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pโ€ฆ) so hopefully it will work going forward.

Don't particularly like the idea that only those approved by each server admin get to show up, so it might work and might not ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ guess it depends if your server admin likes us or not but I've added it in.

Unknown parent

@realcelticgamer I've read that and don't really care either way, it feels like people again moaning at Mastodon because they're the biggest - and this is a *good* tag idea to have that other fediverse platforms should adopt anyway so why try to force it to be just for Mastodon, that seems backwards to me

DRM lease protocol support finally merged for GNOME Wayland - great for VR fans gamingonlinux.com/2024/06/drm-โ€ฆ

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

if anyone is confused: in the context of Linux, "DRM" stands for "Direct Rendering Manager" and has nothing to do with copyright enforcement.

I've been gaming on Linux since the days when "DRM" meant "that thing that crashes every other day," and I still do a double-take sometimes.

It's wild how much value you get out of an indie title sometimes. "Sometimes" really feels like a bit of an understatement.

Some one asked in DM how to identify ants. So here is my method:

The best resource online is

inaturalist.org/

This is an effectively peer-reviewed database of correctly identified photos of insects.

To identify an ant search for "ants" then set your region to the location where you saw the ant. Look through the photos until you see a match.
