thank you, I thought it couldn’t just be me 🤔 good to know how to fix it. I’ve actually enjoyed the game more without the online messages. It feels more exciting to come across the traps and treasures on my own

Not to go too much into stereotypes but I assume Australians have to run away from giant spiders and box kangaroos whilst upsidedown everyday, which is probably good for cardio

WOW! That was fun! This song by Trong Hieu dropped today. For Eurovision tragics, he was one of the contenders for representing Germany.

meh ... This is a nothing burger 😀 The actions required to trigger this is not realistic.

Well, I hear some thumping around and a bit of a meeOW! I walk out of my office and Desmond looks at me all wide-eyed and fluffy tailed. "What has you spooked, little buddy?"

I pick him up for a cuddle and both hands are greeted with a stack of static electricity! "How did you pick up so many ions? Rolling around on the couch cover?"

He's now purrring on my lap, but that was a lot of ZAPs!
😄

@Amanda Gordon I would assume so. I'm surprised and disappointed that his name isn't on this. Usually it is, and I have foolishly missed that error. Here is where you can find it.

A Bugatti car, a first lady and the fake stories aimed at Americans

A network of Russia-based websites masquerading as local American newspapers is pumping out fake stories as part of an AI-powered operation that is increasingly targeting the US election, a BBC investigation can reveal. A former Florida police officer who relocated to Moscow is one of the key figures behind it.

John Mark Dougan, a former US Marine who worked as a police officer in Florida and Maine in the 2000s.

Nextcloud has become my go to stop in my homelab and is now an important part of my day to day life. I just wish a few more improvements in performance and it would be perfect.

If you run your own Linux server it is time to do a system update:

A remote execution vulnerability in OpenSSH hits millions of Linux systems.

very true, and worth calling out. also be aware that latest patched releases might not have the fix.
can we take some solace that it appears "unlikely to be exploited"?

worth considering your "defence in depth" approach, ie what security layers are available.

I often have to listen to it multiple times before I understand any given outro sentence ...

the sqlite codebase is a gem.

tldr; mcaffee made a shit ton of sqlite files in the temp folder causing people to call the sqlite devs phone angrily. now they name all files etilqs to prevent this.

It's not as if people listen to geniuses. (Not the 'stable genius' / 'smart because my uncle taught at MIT' kind, I mean folks like Fauci and NdGT.)

This is a smart move by @Mastodon. #Twitter / #X journalism is struggling, and #Threads doesn’t want journalism. Mastodon is leaning into it though, “To reinforce and encourage Mastodon as the go-to place for journalism, we’re launching a new feature today.” I think this is a lever for differentiation; making Mastodon more valuable to journalists and users.

Today we're launching a new #Mastodon feature that will highlight writers and journalists that are active on the fediverse when their their articles are being shared.

Eugen Rochko reshared this.

in reply to Flipboard

@Flipboard Very similar to what eg Google+ did with rel-author and what I worked on implementing into Flattr back the as well. Not sure why rel-author isn’t used 🤔 microformats.org/wiki/rel-auth…
in reply to Pelle Wessman

@Flipboard Added a comment about it: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/p…

It’s sad to not see more cooperation between #Mastodon / #Fediverse and #IndieWeb

The latter is focused on social semantics for the web and the former for social semantics for ActivityPub – when the two overlap they should coordinate – and articles are very much web pages and something the #IndieWeb knows best practices around

A really cool new Mastodon feature. That I've already hooked up for our website.

If your server is on Mastodon nightly, like .social, you'll see the names of editors who have their tag set (example coming)

Just took it for a spin. Only annoying thing was that it didn't use my download history. Otherwise it worked like a charm and I can't wait to see more games added!

So far attempt number 2 at Fedora Workstation telemetry is a lot more sensible. An opt-out solution was never going to fly with Linux users and that 500+ comment thread shows what happens when people think a Linux distro is slightly moving towards Windows fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes…
in reply to Brodie Robertson

@AggressiveHayBale I'm looking towards an active selection "choose your camp" style, because being able to passively skip such an important decision as (not) sharing telemetry would be antithetical to the goal of improving on this data. 🤔🙈
in reply to Brodie Robertson

it’s better. They are still less trustworthy than somebody like KDE for metrics. The one change I would make is if the user on initial install says no the software is removed right then in there or there is a prompt to do so. Maybe add it to a fedora welcome or support page where it can be reinstalled easily.

but as long as IBM pays the light bill, I just can’t trust them.

This thing is pretty bloody cool (andernic rg35xxsp).
