I really want to know why Valve even has the SteamOS page online anymore, since there isn't an official release for generic hardware version of the SteamDeck OS, this page still links to the old Debian 8 Jessie version store.steampowered.com/steamos
in reply to Brodie Robertson

all download links redirect to Steam Deck Image, So it's basically impossible for any noobs to download something completely outdated.

They definitely still should update it.

I guess the Dem elite got what they wanted. No plan, no nominee, and utter chaos. Great for news ratings, but pretty bad while we’re trying to fight the other party who is absolutely united behind the fascism at our door.

#Potatoes Are the Perfect #Vegetable—but You’re Eating Them Wrong
Humble #potato is a miraculous vegetable, but #Americans are eating less of them than ever before and have ditched fresh potatoes for frozen. Time to rebrand the spud?
Once this miraculous nutrient-dense vegetable was the fuel of human civilization. Now the spud is become synonymous with a garbage, industrialized food system that pours profits into a handful of companies at the expense of people’s health.

Subsidiaries of Indonesia’s second-biggest palm oil company, PT Astra Agro Lestari (AAL), are running illegal plantations, grabbing community land, and intimidating critics, according to a new report by NGOs.

The report is a follow-up to a 2022 report by Friends of the Earth, and identifies at least 1,100 hectares(2,718 acres) of concessions that lie inside forest areas that should be off-limits to plantation activity.

#WestPapua: #NeoColonialism is going on and on, it seems. Now the Permanent People’s Tribunal on West Papua, held in London on 27-29 June, once more brought the #oppression of the West Papua people, the #destruction of #biosphere|s on the table, calling on the UN to help end the crimes, committed by international #corporations with support from the #Indonesian state (or is it the other way round?):

"Concomitant to the unravelling of bacterial immune defence was the realisation that some antiphage systems are in fact conserved in eukaryotes [7–9]. For example, cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-like enzymes, which produce cyclic dinucleotide second messengers upon pathogen detection, and viperins, which generate modified nucleotides blocking viral replication, protect bacteria and humans alike. Contrary to the conceptual framework of clade-specific immune mechanisms, a fraction of immune modules (domains or proteins involved in defence) are conserved between prokaryotes and eukaryotes."

Since I've had confirmation this is real, I'll reshare it now. It looks like Sonny Piers was removed from the GNOME Foundation board, no one publicly knows why, on one is talking about it, this is a complete mystery discourse.gnome.org/t/updates-…
in reply to Brodie Robertson

For the sake of both parties involved and the GNOME Project in general, I sincerely hope you’ll handle this responsibly as a prominent content creator. There has been very little information disclosed so far, which unfortunately opens the doors for harmful speculation and bad-faith actors.
in reply to Brage Fuglseth

At this stage I don't have any direct plans to do a video on it, there's some speculation I could discuss but nothing concrete. The GNOME Foundation is in a position right now where if what I've been told is true, they're going to piss people off, and if they don't say anything, people will make things up and piss themselves off.

in reply to Brodie Robertson

Thanks, this was reassuring to read. I have very little reliable information about the situation myself, but hopefully we’ll get to know more at some point.
in reply to Brage Fuglseth

You're not the only one, most people in the GNOME project are completely lost with what's happening right now. This is a decision made entirely behind closed doors in the Foundation

Stuff like this is how you show potential big sponsors (especially governments) that you are a sketchy non profit. Secretly removing important people on the project while not telling other members just invites needless suspicion (even if it turns out it was justified later).

This Linux Distro Attempts A Subscription Support Model #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/8rFmDMkzEog
in reply to Brodie Robertson

The thumbnail is probably too small for any text to be readable when viewed on small screens, like on phones. And I can't see any thumbnail at all when using the official Mastodon Android app. All that is shown instead of your video thumbnail is a placeholder icon that looks like the icon for a text document similar to this: 📄.

Maybe that's just a bug in the app. Nevertheless it would be more useful if people would write something like "The Linux distro [name] attempts...".
