I'm super interested to see what the Website League (websiteleague.org/) comes up with. (I might even join their Discord ๐ฉ) It's an island network being created by #cohost users that's allowlist-based and very conscious of governance. I'm down for an experiment like that. Why not?
The FAQ on their site has some helpful analogies and values statements. I'm especially curious how I'd find new folks/islands/neighborhoods to connect with in a practical sense. In looking for where to create Mastodon accounts for some things recently, I found that some very relevant instances weren't in the common instance search tools or weren't labeled in ways that made them come up when searching. That scenario seems even more likely in an allowlist-based environment.
