self-promo, indie games

Whoa, so a busy season began when I put my phone down. 😅

So, itch.io is currently having a Creator Day, where they don't take a cut of #IndieGame sales. Our games are 60% off there now and through the whole weekend: itch.io/s/83068/november-2022-… "The Majesty of Colors" 🐙🎈 and "Ossuary" 💀 include Steam keys. Our consensus-based #TTRPG Rosette Diceless comes in PDF and epub formats.

Second, our games are 50% off in the Steam Autumn Sale: store.steampowered.com/publish…

What a cringe-fest!

Elon Musk trying so hard to hurl insulting zingers at Mastodon. But he just comes across as incredibly awkward and dorky.

He also fails at one of the first rules of PR: don't acknowledge the little guy lest you turn them into the big guy.

Thanks, but ever since I worked with my Wooting keyboard and realized how amazing it is to have the settings stored on the keyboard and always send the exact keystroke I want regardless of the booting step or OS, I have developed a negative feeling towards mapping keys via software. Imho keyboard is (and should be) an independent component and agnostic to OS and booting stage

I don't know if we have anyone else from University of British Columbia around here, but if so this might be a useful service?

Our simple guide to Steam Play and Proton, Valve's technology for playing Windows games on Linux / Steam Deck was updated - it now has a note on all the different versions gamingonlinux.com/2019/07/a-si…
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

If it wasn't for the steamdeck advancements in Proton wouldn't have happened as fast. I glad it happened. I bought a windows computer just to game. Now I installed Linux on it. Now I'm setting up Steam, Lutris and I have the EA app running on bottles.

Actually, feel free to bring a picture and have us guess the name of a book. We will do this like charades: book, movie, television, or whatever. Just warn us which one.

Gobal hotkeys are coming soon in portals, disabling Vsync is coming soon, now we're getting fractional scaling, I think 2023 is actually going to be the death of Xorg for most Linux users gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland…
in reply to Brodie Robertson

For me at least, Wayland is already a lot more stable than Xorg when I used it. With Xorg, I used to have problems with my PC not waking up from sleep, apps lagging terribly when resizing, at one point I even had an issue where instead of my lockscreen, the applications in the background would focus on startup, leading to me literally leaking my password in a group chat because I still had Telegram open and only finding out hours later, because I had to hard-reset my pc.
in reply to Brodie Robertson

Wayland has improved a *ton* the past year, i switched to wayland about 6 months ago and have *not* looked back
i never saw a KDE compositor animation run at my full refresh rate, its always been locked to like 20 or 30, but on wayland every one of my monitors is butter smooth all running at from what i can tell perfect framerates, with almost no input latency and no tearing, im even able to game, with no tearing, low latency, and all monitors running at full speed, no compromises

in reply to Muse

This is really nothing new. People do the same thing at job interviews every single day.

@Graveyard Leprechaun True. Also nice to have a word to describe the concept. This article is a little old, but I came by it from a recent article in The Conversation that decided to use the word.

in reply to Eugen Rochko

Sorry to be the bummer here. I have seen instance admins that stated they'd at least silence (or even block) both Mastadon gGmbH instances due to serious issues in the last 2 weeks.

They may reconsider at some point but certainly their users and mods weren't too happy with some of the incidents.

Don't get me wrong, I understand how hard it is to keep track of that many users especially if they rush in at once. My goal is not to blame here!

the complexity of the game is only challenged by the complexity of the dlc page 😀
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

When EU4 was released it was one of few AAA steam games natively running on Linux.

Almost 1000 hours since 2013 and I played mostly as a single country 🤦‍♂️I have love-hate relationship with eu, because it's impossible to finish it.
Now I play only once per new DLC 😑
There is strong 'just next 5 years and I go to sleep' vibe.

I really hope they improved the UI/UX, because a while ago, I had to put the game away after a few hours of frustration.

The game was rather cool and interesting otherwise, it was just a terrible experience to interact with the controls.

I had a doozy yesterday.

A Facebook post on a page called "Socials Network Support Center 324124124" with some scary writing about losing control of your page if you don't log back in via a tinyurl link.

It then had extra periods to bulk out the post
.
.
.
before tagging a whole bunch of pages so the admins of these pages would see this scary message in their notifications.
