I'm really surprised to see all of this white-knight'ing for a big electronics / software corporation. Every time one of these corporations gets taken to task, it's good for consumers.
1.) Valve certainly shouldn't be able to dictate how publishers set their prices on other platforms.
2.) DLC should 100% be agnostic across platforms and there's no reason it should be difficult to implement.
3.) If Steam has a monopoly on PC game sales, then its commission is necessarily excessive
jokeyrhyme
in reply to Brodie Robertson • • •I think commas are used to separate each generic parameter, e.g. `T: TraitBoundA, U: TraitBoundB + TraitBoundC`
so, they can't use commas between trait bounds, hence `+`
Brodie Robertson
in reply to jokeyrhyme • • •lj·rk→⁽³⁹ᶜ³⁾
in reply to Brodie Robertson • • •@jokeyrhyme In addition to comma syntax already taken, it makes semantic sense since the (+) is commonly used to denote a commutative operation, whilst the comma denotes a sequence. The ordering of the traits does not matter though, it doesn't matter whether we have a bound A + B or B + A.
Moreso, algebraically speaking, one could consider A + B + ... an addition of traits, creating a super-trait that encompasses all types that satisfy all given traits { A, B, ... }, again, no matter the "order". Here, again, a comma would be more appropriate only if its operands themselves could not be considered "addable", that is, if they're of completely different "kinds". E.g., consider X, Y with X being a trait bound and Y being a type parametrization. But since A + B + ... are all traits one could define said trait addition, just like one can define numeric addition.
