Duke of Portland Boathouse - Ullswater

Another from yesterday. A location that will need another visit as the light/conditions weren't as good as they could be.

I'm glad I got autumn colour though.

A stone built boathouse with a wooden balcony nestles into the shoreline surrounded by autumnal trees. The lake's water is relatively calm and the view down the lake can be seen. In the background mountains can be made out through the distant mist althought their tops are shrouded by low cloud.

Snow covered Langdales from Blea Tarn

I took this on Thursday, the snow cover took me by surprise. A heavy shower had just moved across the Langdale fells and then the sun came out - it took me a moment to realise that the reason the mountains were so bright was because of the snow.

My first real hike this year didn't go quite as expected (I chose a slightly shorter route and took the train home so I could relax on the couch for a few more hours), but I had fun and enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature.

Once upon a time, in the Styrian Alps, I hiked up a mountain in the early morning darkness to photograph the sunrise. That was almost three years ago now, October 2019.

I've posted a few edits of this before, but this is the original that I haven't shown like this before. Unfortunately I don't have the RAW files anymore, so I can't edit it again by today's standards and technical possibilities.
