Here is our 11:15 PM ET update on #Idalia, and it's rather grim for the Big Bend and Apalachee Bay, where as much as 12 to 16 feet of water may arrive Wed AM. Winds are now 110 mph near the center, and Idalia landfall is expected as a Cat 4. The forecast track of Idalia, which brings into Apalachee Bay, then north and northeast to just near Savannah, GA, then off the coast of South Carolina at Myrtle Beach, then out to sea.
A moderate risk of flash flooding exists from Apalachee Bay north into most of southeast Georgia, southeast South Carolina, and southeast North Carolina.
STORM SURGE: The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. Officially erased my bird site presence this morning and with it my associated contacts. I haven't seen a wide-scale migration yet of the #weather / #wxtwitter community, which accounted for half of my Twitter contacts.
