It bloomed!!!! I've had a small cutting of this cactus for over two years now, and only this spring did it finally start growing. There's also another bud that may open in the next few days.

Not been doing much talking about coin-ops on here huh. Here's how a pinball machine can tell when you're being too rough with it. This image won't be captioned 'cause I'll describe it in the toot.

So hanging from a brass bracket is a steel rod with a cone-shaped weight attached. The weight is surrounded by a metal ring. The ring and the bracket form part of a circuit, so when the game is jostled too roughly the weight swings into the bracket, makes contact, and tells the player hey cool it.

Anyhoo snapped this picture of the first plates I've streaked in some time. Bacillus subtilis OKB105 and 168 in a bag at RT. The former a derivative of the latter transformed with a chunk of ATCC 21332 making it a better surfactin producer.

Agar filled petri dishes are stacked in 2 piles of 2 inside a plastic bag on a lab bench.

Olive-yellow above with a streaked gray breast and belly. Fainter streaking that does not reach all the way to the vent, a paler belly, and a longer, more decurved bill distinguish it from slightly larger Streaky-breasted Spiderhunter. Forages actively at low and middle levels of lowland and hill forest. Produces a squeaky “tshe-yee tshe-yee!”, like wet shoes squeaking on a smooth surface.

Ok, I wasn't expecting to get a reasonable handle on insular half uncial minuscule script in a couple of hours this morning after flippantly mentioning to @bookandswordblog that I'd like to investigate it, but here we are XD

An A4 white page of paper being held by my hand in front of a wooden door. The page is a section of calligraphy in insular uncial script that is roughly illustrated with some swirls and sketchy knotwork, and reads: The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables. It was created in a Columban monastery in either Ireland, Scotland or England, and may have had contributions from various Columban institutions from each of these areas. It is believed to have been created c. 800 AD. The text of the Gospels is largely drawn from the Vulgate, although it also includes several passages drawn from the earlier versions of the Bible known as the Vetus Latina.

Yup, 8bitbubsy's fantastic Protracker 2 clone works just fine on ARM.

I compiled it without any issues on my @PINE64's PineBook Pro and it runs all my mods just fine.

Weeeeeee! First 'proper' piece using the Foundational Hand script I picked up yesterday.

Materials: Pilot Parallel and Rotring calligraphy pens, Sakura Pigma Micron, Ecoline and Diamine ink applied with brushes, and Edding Gold fineliner, on Daler Rowney 90gm calligraphy paper.

The calligraphy reads: "Roses are red Water comes in litres Trebuchets can use a counterweight to launch a 90kg stone projectile Over 300 meters" It's decorated with acanthus scrolls, thin vines, green leaves, and roses. There's a trebuchet at the top that has roses growing over it.
