Got back into making my own bread. Pretty easy, bread tastes better than anything at the store, and it makes the whole house smell great!

Grated Pineapple Pie From 1898

The progression of what lead to this recipe is interesting

I make bread but am terrible at cutting it; all my slices end up wonky.

I suspected that if you cool it in the fridge first, it's waaaaaaay easier to cut and manage. πŸ˜„

And it works! Nice!

Roast pork pie for dinner tonight. And a cheeky little blue brie and date pie to take to work tomorrow.

I made biscuits! They’re kinda pine tree shaped, but more like pine cones.

Made from scratch without a recipe. And they are delicious.

New bread!

Bit of an experiment. Contains ricotta, spices and glacΓ© cherries.

This may turn in to a form of biscotti, or I might eat it as it. Time will tell. #baking #food #breadPosting

Still very tasty. The version with just dutch red cabbage and apple was sweeter and this moorish, but this version with fresh cabbage was very tasty too.

Making more bierochs. Last time I didn’t have fresh cabbage, so I had to make another batch to see what it was like. #food #baking #dinner

Tonight’s dinner was Bierochs. A Volga German recipe from about 1760ish.

Although this version isn’t exactly the same as I didn’t have a whole cabbage so I substituted grated fennel to accompany the sauerkraut.

I’m baking Chinese Chews from this old Australian Women’s Weekly recipe.

But why are they called that? There’s nothing Chinese about the recipe at all.

Tonight for dinner I did Turkish Pide in the Ooni pizza oven.

So tasty!

I baked some more peanut biscuits, 'cause they were so tasty last time.

Recipe will follow in sub-toots.

I felt like biscuits, so I baked biscuits. Peanut biscuits to be precise.

Fresh batch of biscuits. These ones have the highly suspicious name of Apple Surprise.

Although, I did make adjustments to the recipe based on what ingredients I had to hand. # # # #

I made cheese puffs for lunch.

They’re all gone now, and we’re all quite full. # # #

Biscuits! A variation on Anzac biscuits. These have added hazelnuts and mixed peel, some scotch whisky and a slightly different process (did not melt the butter, or activate the baking soda with said melted butter and syrup - which always seemed to me to be showy without actual purpose).

Anzac biscuits with added macadamia nuts. Bit late in the day, but it’s still the β€œcorrect” day to make them.

Third day stuck due to road flooding. So i made scones.

In my quest to find ways of eating the never-ending-christmas-ham, I made this ham, ricotta and spinach (ok silverbeet) baked cheesecake for dinner tonight.

Paneforte di Siena just out of the oven. It has to cool fully then remove from the tin and dust heavily with icing sugar.
