Trump lawyer claimed no classified material was at Mar-a-Lago in signed letter to Justice Department

cnn.com/2022/08/13/politics/tr…

Here's some hard facts for law enforcement. Drain the Swamp.

in reply to tom grzyb

I imagine the second case is true. Unless he's an idiot - which makes me wonder how he/she passed the bar exam...
in reply to tom grzyb

But I imagine the lawyer would defend themselves simply by saying that "Trump personally assured me" - which would place them in the first, less risky category.

Trump says he declassified Mar-a-Lago documents; apparently he did not.

nbcnews.com/politics/donald-tr…

“President Trump had the power to declassify whichever documents he wanted to while he was president, but not any longer."

in reply to tom grzyb

"Proof" itself is a fuzzy idea. Would he reasonably have known not to move classified documents to his home? With Trump, it is hard to be sure. I suspect this is one reason he loves to talk nonsense all the time - no one can pin him down. Of course this makes it hard for the people who work for him - but Trump can point and grunt, so there's that.
in reply to tom grzyb

On the other hand, there has been a number of legal attempts to retrieve all of the classified materials, and he had to have known about them.

Let the world know I held myself from cursing in 3 comments in the row

Context, we were fighting, and he kept cursing, but I held myself steady, I find it childish to curse someone in an argument, we talk with fact or with our point of views not with loud and bad words, ugh

Eric T-Rump on Faux Nes: "I know the White House as well as anyone, I spent a lot of time there, I know the system, this did not happen without Joe Biden's explicit approval."

Idiot. What an idiot. He knows only the Trump White House, where of course, El Trumo wanted to control every branch of government.

_Some of the materials recovered were marked as "top secret/SCI" -- one of the highest levels of classification. _

"I kept 'em safe in my place - they're worth a bundle."

What is the entire hell is going on? Can someone turn the difficulty level for life down from berserk? It is getting a little ridiculous now.

MapKnitter.org will be going offline at the end of the month due to lack of funds, which is very sad!
1000s of maps of environmental injustices people have made over the years

And also SpectralWorkbench.org too.
database of 200k+ community-contributed open source spectra.

Both will be archived on archive.org

If you want to check and help
publiclab.org/mapknitter

publiclab.org/spectral-workben…

It's really fucking hard and violent blow for environmental activism and community based open environmental investigation

in reply to Bi—zaar

of course. I have been getting increasingly familiar with public lab. I was not familiar with these specific projects but I think they seem very worthwhile.

Today’s “because we can”: powering antique telegraph equipment with a desk toy stirling engine. The engine produces about 400mA at 3v, which is just barely enough to actuate the voice coils on the receiver. If you listen carefully you can actually hear the engine slowing down as the load on the generator increases!

this video wraps up two of my interests "antique technology" and "peculiar electric projects" into one nice package.

same here! i was also just giggling the whole time at the absurdity

Sweeping climate bill pushes American energy to go green

apnews.com/article/technology-…

in reply to tom grzyb

Some good news. I'm hoping this legislation has some significant effect on our CO2-equivalent release rate.
in reply to tom grzyb

I am exceedingly happy about this. Maybe not so much for the scope of it (which is rather limited), but for the fact that we are finally starting to do something rather significant.

16, fucking 16, Not one or two but 16 kids died and no one talk about it. "oh, Russian! Killing Ukrainians, oh I'm sad". but no you are not sad about these kids, wow

aljazeera.com/news/2022/8/8/th…

in reply to Esmail EL BoB :dinosaur:

Personally I think that if we want a change, we must have a huge movement against a problem by threatening governments all over the world, that’s how we can really make a change, social media is not enough and even outdoor movements may not work.

And yes that’s true Israel finds it hard by the help of a Al Jazeera, New York Times and … but still not enough.

It is a bigger issue with big a very big government.

in reply to JumpToSkyFree.

I get your point, but good luck with big gov stand with you. So only option left is people unit and we thank god already united, if we do what's in your point of view we will be screwed because we will say alright no gov will stand with us, we give up. So put yourself in their shoes, no big gov with you will you fight and stand for your home or let thief steal it because the police is busy

I totally understand that. I had a dagger from my grandfather. Original WWII stuff, but my mother got rid of it when I was away "'because it was dangerous". 🙁
Then there was my Bunya Pine I'd planted out in the back yard, that also ended up mysteriously gone when I was living in Toowoomba.
in reply to Deborah Pickett (inactive)

I'm mostly bitter about it because I wasn't involved in the decision, it just happened while I wasn't there. This was a bit of a recurring theme with the disposal of some of my stuff, and I'm still a bit sensitive about it.

"Our newly published research found backyard hens’ eggs contain, on average, more than 40 times the lead levels of commercially produced eggs. Almost one in two hens in our Sydney study had significant lead levels in their blood. Similarly, about half the eggs analysed contained lead at levels that may pose a health concern for consumers."

I saw that the other day. Definitely more of a problem in the suburbs.
in reply to David de Groot 𓆉

It's a problem anywhere with car traffic. Farms close to highways have a higher lead contamination than other farms. Even now, 30-something years after leaded fuel has been banned.

Hmmm, I ran an macOS 12.5 update today, and sometime later, I noticed this (moveable) widget on screen. The text changes from Wake Up to Sleep when clicked.

WTF is it? No other 12.5 machine I've used has a microphone widget. Is it some other app running? Anyone seen it before?

(Google image search was no help whatsoever) .

in reply to David de Groot 𓆉

Mystery solved. It was the Voice Control feature of macOS. No idea how I managed to accidentally turn it on.
