Having a beard while wearing masks during a pandemic is risky. What’s the best option? These tests show that N95-type respirators still provide the most protection - bearded or clean shaven.

“Though variable, N95 respirators offer the best respiratory protection for bearded men. While KF94 and KN95 FFE is compromised considerably by increasing beard length, they proved better options than procedure and cotton face masks.”

Pressure spike in #Melbourne right on cue after this afternoon’s volcanic #eruption in #Tonga.
The pressure in Melbourne rose from 999 hPa to 1006 hPa in the last 24 hours. Around 7 pm local time there was a spike of around 2 hPa.

Looks like we recorded it here too. My weatherstation software crashed around 18:49 AEST and I didn't notice until 21:30, but I think this spike and trough is what you noticed.

Sorry #Duolingo, but these "exercises" on the app are just ridiculous. I think I'm actively getting dumber just (not having to) sorting all words into the correct word order.
I've uninstalled the app now.
"Den drikker vann." with possible word buttons "is", "It", "drinking", "water"
Exercise: "Anden spiser." Possible buttons on the word bar: "eating", "is", "duck", "The".
"Kvinnen sitter.", possible words: "woman", "sitting", "The", "is"

I use a positive airflow helmet when forging and grinding/sanding. Which is great for keeping particulates out, while also protecting my face, but not so great for protecting others (vents directly out to the atmosphere).

My daily mask is an N99, basically the same filtration system as the British Cold War NBC respirator, but it has a valved outlet. It's there to protect ME. I will put a surgical mask over it, if required, or even swap for a regular P2 (I carry multiple spares of both) but, as far as I'm concerned, my valved mask is not my problem. If anyone isn't doing their bit to protect themselves, their problem.
