I’ve seen a great many G.F. and a small number of blues during my career at sea, never seen one like this! Nice.

[thread] Do you ever wonder how new seasonal flu vaccines get picked? Our new paper in Frontiers in Bioinformatics (doi.org/10.3389/fbinf.2023.106…), led by Jover Lee and James Hadfield, shows how genetic data and lab experiments have been used to make those decisions in the past and how our new interactive visualization tool, Nextstrain’s measurements panel, can simplify that process by connecting genetic and experimental data in a single place.

AMD RADV driver will soon stop eating RAM with some games gamingonlinux.com/2023/03/amd-… #Linux #Gaming #Vulkan
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

I noticed this happening since Dota recently removed OpenGL mode and went all Vulkan, which is my first experience with a Vulkan game. For me it gives slightly better FPS than OpenGL mode but it eats gigabytes of extra RAM even after closing everything. Relieved to hear it's being worked on!

Seeing that they removed "-oldbigpicture", does that mean they finally fixed linux nvidia performance for the new one?

#GenshinImpact seems to be running on Linux right now, it's likely due to someone in the dev team breaking the anti cheat (again) as no official statement has been made about #SteamDeck support but maybe that's happening. At this stage keep an eye on it reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comm…

Hopefully this isn't a Paladins situation where we get our hopes up only to have them dashed.

I just got an Apple Studio monitor - Thunderbolt 4, 27", 5K, ghastly expensive - and it is a wonder. It also has an excellent camera, microphone, and speakers. But as I said, it is 4x the cost of a typical 27" 4K monitor.

My ears are bad so podcasts don't work for me. Lynn tried to understand that one but could not parse large parts of it, and she has good ears.

in reply to bhaugen

oh no! Sorry for being incomprehensible! It is indeed pretty crypto-insidery.
in reply to Nathan Schneider

Is that about the podcast? I haven't tried that, Lynn did and understood some of it but could not understand a lot of it. I was hoping she would tell me about it...but no such luck,

I think it was enunciation as well as content. So if the content is insidery and the people do not speak clearly incomprehensible is what happens.
