This is neat on many dimensions:

1. Sapphire Rapids HBM nodes
2. Intel GPU partition
3. Cornelis 400G #OmniPath
4. Quote from Katie Antypas in her new role as #NSF ACI director

Delivery this autumn, production in early 2024.

Not as big as previous Stampedes (or Frontera or Horizon!) but still decidedly Intel-based.

Now the Linux Game Jam 2023 is over (bit late, my bad). I've begun sorting the two community prizes I promised.

First one was requested to be a donation to Defold 👍

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Currently trying to get in contact with the person who came #1 to sort their prize or donation of their choice. If that's you (hello aarroz), get in touch!

Took a little longer than intended, but here's part six in the Clone Wars series. This time I'm looking at the "obfuscated kernel" episode way back in 2011 as well as the role of the Linux kernel in the RHEL 6 time frame. Plus kpatch and ksplice, and Novell (er, SUSE's) first RHEL support offer.

A lot has changed since then, and also very little.

Hey developers,

Interested in #contributing to a smol but neat #FOSS project? I'm looking for help with feature requests for my #mailserver side project: github.com/t-lo/mailserver/iss…

Mailserver is "a no pain, minimal configuration, full-featured dockerised mail server" based on postfix and dovecot. Goal of this project is to ship a DKMS / DMARC / SPF mailserver system whose emails are accepted by GMail / Outlook etc. out of the box.

(boosts welcome!)

Opt Out Telemetry Is The Only Useful Telemetry? #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/T8g_SX2AmAo
in reply to Brodie Robertson

I'm pretty sure both Fedora KDE and Kinoite are opt out.

And here I am not exploding everybody.

in reply to Brodie Robertson

I don't see a real difference between opt-in and opt-out if the choice is effectively and honestly offered.

You want data on this hardware and how it's used? Go ahead.

Continuing our #Remnant2 testing, we move to the #ROGAlly. With hopes high the extra power would help with performance, we were unfortunately met with other issues that make the game near unplayable on the device.

steamdeckhq.com/news/will-remn…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@gamingonlinux If only it could live up to it 😭 for the Ally’s credit though, Remnant 2 is a tough game to run in general right now. Hopefully patches will help though, it’s a fantastic game otherwise.

This is Elisabeth Wollman (1888-1943). Her life was extraordinary & her legacy is phenomenal.

In collaboration with her husband, Eugène, she was a pioneer of what became molecular genetics. This pic is her Pasteur Institute portrait from the early 1920s.

Their groundbreaking work was carried on by a colleague & their son, leading to a Nobel prize & more.

CW: The Wollmans' lives were ended in Auschwitz.

I've just created her Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisabet…

Announcing Clipper: a TLS-transparent HTTP debugging tool for native applications. With Clipper, you can attach Chrome DevTools to most native applications performing HTTP requests, with any HTTP library, with no configuration.

This is done by sticking the app in a container, escrowing the keys using LD_PRELOAD tricks, intercepting the traffic of the container, then simply decrypting it.

You can read more on my blog: jade.fyi/blog/announcing-clipp…

We spend far too much time dreading what our #climate future *may* look like instead of envisioning better outcomes & working together to achieve them.

Yes, we need to hear about extreme storms, floods, droughts & biodiversity loss. But there’s more to climate change than doomsday narratives.

We must highlight the incredible work being done by scientists, innovators & communities to meet these challenges.

I’ve been focused on climate for over 2 decades & feel hopeful. blogs.scientificamerican.com/o…
