An incorporated biotech startup in California. Why am I not surprised.

Let me guess - now teachers and amateur biologists need to pay the price for some idiot hero's journey for fame and profit.

@foaylward and I'd argue totally not an accident, but a result of a culture they've been promoting. "Move fast and break things" and other such nonsense.

Hee in Tucson we had a strong monsoon storm roll across the city at dusk. High winds and lots of hail stripped the leaves off trees at our home, and took out power across the city - lots of damage. UA webcam captured the impressive storm move across Tucson: atmo.arizona.edu/~leuthold/tem…

The right's cries for "ideological diversity" sound fair to well-meaning people who believe in good-faith debate as a way to arrive at the truth. But truth is not the goal here; the goal is power.

in reply to Jen Sorensen

so you're not opposed to ideological diversity yourself then?

BTW, can you explain the last panel? The reference went over my head

in reply to marrs

@marrs The last panel is about the Florida educational curriculum under Gov. DeSantis teaching the "positives" of slavery

in reply to Alan Sill

@AlanSill yes, I am looking for a case with fans. What did you use? The Discord is great!
in reply to Rami Krispin

I just swapped it with the motherboard of an old Dell Optiplex, and used some aftermarket connector cables to reuse the Dell fans, which have a unique pinout, with a third-party fan controller that provides the missing temperature sensor. The only change I had to make was to tap the power lines for the fan controller into the wiring harness from the ATX power supply.

I'm doing a survey about Mastodon instances and cooperatives. Can you take a few minutes to fill it out? Anonymous, no gotchas.

I'll be playing some BATTLETECH over at cast.samsai.eu in about 15 minutes. The Owncast has been upgraded to the latest bug fix release and during the last BATTLETECH stream we got ourselves an assault-class STK-3 mech, so hopefully it'll be a good stream. See you in the chat!

seems fitting, as we appear to becoming fossils the way things are going.

#explore society is becoming more transactional, you don't really see people paying it forward, or commemoratively! Its very true more in a T-Rex times.

Twitter/X doesn't allow you to put ✅ in your name since it might be confused with a verified checkmark.

Twitter/X is now putting their logo (𝕏) next to the person's name if they're an employee of Twitter/X.

They didn't think to prevent you from putting a double-struck X in your name: 𝕏. It doesn't look exactly the same as their employee verification, but it's probably close enough to fool/scam a lot of people.

From the Forum: “What dont you miss from classic games?”

gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Clunky controls and interfaces in RPGs. I tried playing Phantasy Star 1 and 2 yesterday (OG versions) and both were nearly unplayable because of the UI.

This isn't universal, of course. I feel that old Final Fantasy games do not really have this problem.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Being a fan of old school RPGs, definitely complicated pre-mouse-era interfaces and missing (auto) maps. Old SSI AD&D games, anyone?

This is SO nerdy, I'm not certain how many people will laugh. I CERTAINLY LAUGHED!

I would like to remind Justice Alito that nothing in the Constitution says we have to pay the Supreme Court members anything, either.

@bhaugen that is helpful. I confess to dutifully referencing Cybersyn in my next book. It would probably be less of a darling of the left if it had actually had a chance to develop. But there is something tantalizing about a kind of socialized Amazon.
in reply to Nathan Schneider

@ntnsndr despite @mike_hales I think Cybersyn is worth referencing. I got a couple of other topics to work on today but will get back to that one by tomorrow to suggest what might still be useful about it..
