I enjoyed reading David Marchese’s interview with literary agent Andrew Wylie and found it worthwhile but Wylie himself is not my cup of tea. nytimes.com/interactive/2023/1…

For a moment thought they had ported to Linux but no. Great game, had a lot of fun, and second part was also good. Bullfrog and Peter Molyneux at their best.

Nice!

And for anyone who is slightly confused, as I have been: Gold/Silver *Sponsor* is handful-of-digits money, and not to be confused with Gold/Silver *Member*, which is more like 1-2 pizza worth.

Please, oh please, let this be the start of game companies contributing to an Open Source game engine, so that there will something absolutely outstanding available for everyone in this space with no strings attached to it!

ZOMG! @Andrew Pam Do you recognise this phone?
I wanted it because it was great to have by the bed, if someone called at night.
in reply to Muse

Yes, we had one of these for many years! Ginormous buttons.
in reply to Muse

'Ginormous'?
Ginormous originated during World War II as a slang word among British soldiers. Its first official appearance in written form was in the 1948 A Dictionary of Forces' Slang, 1939-1945. Ginormous describes something that's really big.

Coyote Vs. Acme Movie! Shelved?!

I just found out today that they made a movie version of Ian Frazier’s classic 1990 New Yorker piece Coyote V. Acme, in which Wile E. Coyote files a product liability lawsuit against the Acme Company.

My excitement was tempered almost immediately by hearing that Warner Bros. has shelved the completed film (starring John Cena & Will Forte and produced by James Gunn) in order to take a $30 million tax write-off.

Another article about the ill-treated film by Rolling Stone.

in reply to Muse

John Cena? Really? That does not sound quite right. Fred Armisen would have made a better coyote, I think.
in reply to Muse

... they could have let him riff on the trap-schemes, and that would have been hilarious.

in reply to Muse

You know, the more I look at it, the more I think it is mostly cups.

Mary Anning was born in 1799 in Great Britain. Her family lived in poverty, selling fossils to make ends meet.

Scientists of Anning’s day could not believe that a poor young woman could posses her knowledge & talent. She has been described as 'the greatest fossilist the world ever knew' yet many people are still unaware of her incredible contributions.

The majority of Anning’s discoveries ended up in museums & collections without credit. ucmp.berkeley.edu/history/anni… #science #history

this brilliant woman was the first to discover a complete plesiosaur skeleton.
true greatness
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

I went hiking along the #JurassicCoast in southwest England this summer and visited Lyme Regis. There’s a lovely statue of Mary Anning and her dog heading out to look for fossils on the beach, and a small museum in the place of her house. If you ever get the chance, go visit (~4h by train and bus from London)!

Ok first of all, today is my first day using this thing in earnest and it’s AWESOME. I’m such a big fan. And I’m giving the thumb shift keys a chance. The blank key is also a CAPS_WORD that capitalizes the next typed word that I’m excited about.

Second of all, this is the first time in a very very long time that I’ve actually SEEN a Dvorak layout on my keyboard. I’ve always either had the keys on QWERTY or just used blanks. How fun. At least this means others can minimally use it.

I wonder if I should actually go back to QWERTY keys and just have a QWERTY layer for lay folk.

(This is my new MoErgo Glove80)

in reply to nebunez

I mean it’s not like I ever look at keys when I’m on Dvorak. I learned touch typing REALLY well with it
in reply to Kat Marchán 🐈

I touch type too, but if I happen to look at the keys my brain pays too much attention. 🤷 I didn’t ask for this lol
