This is the portrait that made it into the Victorian Artists Society portrait exhibition which opened yesterday. Thuan, the subject of this painting, joined me for the fun! Two of my art class mates were telling him that he looked just like his painting! LOL!

#myart #art #portraiture anything else? BTW any guesses on what genre I can say this fits into that isn't realism?

When your mum's tongue is as big as your face!!!
in reply to Muse

That's really sweet (as long as mum is not hungry)

Ages ago we were gifted with a night at a B&B in Montana that was a wolf sanctuary. They took in captive bred wolves that had been raised by people as pets, 'stunt' animals from the entertainment business, or other sanctuaries that had excess animals.
They had a big enclosure for their pack just outside of the B&B. They had several pups that we got to interact with. Very mouthy little critters with the cutest of tiny howls. They liked to chew on shoe laces. In the evening the wolves ( there were 8-10 ) howled. It was an interesting experience. Howlers Inn

NASA crew emerges from simulated Mars mission after more than a year in isolation

After a year-long voyage to Mars that never left Earth, four volunteer crew members have emerged from their simulated habitat.

Nathan Jones, Anca Selariu, Kelly Haston and Ross Brockwell entered the 3D-printed habitat on June 25, 2023.

They are the maiden crew of the space agency's Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA) project.

The quartet spent 378 days inside the 1,580 square metre space at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston.

Once they emerged, Haston, the mission commander, began with a simple "Hello".

"It's actually just so wonderful to be able to say hello to you all," she said.

I am not a design guy, designers might as well be speaking another language comparing 2 identical shades of grey but there is lot of really interesting discussion around GNOME's choice to move from the Cantarell font to Inter, little things that I never considered, fonts like software are never complete, they do require on going maintenance gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gsettin…
in reply to Brodie Robertson

Inter has failed me so far: broken kerning in Firefox/Fedora. Notable example: Element web application. (I guess, it's still a good match for desktop.) Maybe it's just Element problem on Fedora...

@helpers I write from my mastodon profile because from my account tness@venera.social all the messages not leave and not happen. Only the RSS that work. My question is :

on #mastodon my timeline is clean I can release the publications of the lists that I want to look at the same time. on #Friendan I ordered my circles and my channels correctly. Is there a way to block or authorize a circle to display publication on the Timeline.

in reply to tness16

If this option excites it allows me to avoid overlapping between the circle and the channels. THANKS

I'm back from a week along Colombia's Caribbean coast! It wasn't a photography trip per se but I did manage a few sessions, and I'll be posting buggy highlights over the next weeks.

Here's a teaser, a little stingless bee pollinating Mexican sunflower:

A detailed #news story at CNN about record breaking heat across the US, yet no mention of #climate change? 🤔
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

I think it's questionable to look at one data point in very noisy data and call it an example of a trend.
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

Strange isn't it that media that are quite happy to promote bizarre conspiracy theories prefer the coincidence theory of climate change and weather?

I see the GNOME Circle logo is back to the way it should be circle.gnome.org/

Done with this merge request gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Circle/…

I live at the very tippy-top of Melbourne, Australia.
My house is less than a block from farms to the east and forested areas to the south (sadly, not publicly owned).
This morning while I was driving into the city to watch a film at a festival I had to: honk my horn at ducks who were warming their feet on the road, and stop for a kangaroo doing the the same! "Shoo, buddy! Shoo!"
We've been having a cold snap.
