I didn't misrepresent anything in my recent Stop Killing Games article.

I reproduced the UK Gov statement, and then gave my own short comment, which boils down to: I don't think it's going to work to change the law, and think it's a good idea for people to look to other games and for stores to clearly note if a game requires an online connection.

Literally no misrepresentation there at all, I didn't even comment on the petition details itself. As usual, people like to make crap up.

I'm having a hard time understanding what is going on with the Kerrygold #Cooperative. It doesn't seem like a demutualization event, but people are getting big payouts? Kerry Group and the dairy co-op are splitting up and the big company is buying back its shares from the co-op, so that's where the cash is coming from? But non-dairy producing co-op members are also getting cashed out? Do you understand @ntnsndr

What I mean is that business reporting so often treats economic activity like a numbers game (line goes up, trade goes down), without actually bothering to explain what you're asking for: What is at stake for actual people, for workers, and who wins and who loses.

From its inception - based on invading privacy and sharing PID/info on girls in the dorm, and then monetizing it (after wresting control from co-founders...) It's that old "feelings of entitlement" & lack of empathy/remorse. Zuck is pathetic - as a human. He's ok at hacking and stealing every bit of data that floats in and taking it as. his own... /rant

This video asks some very interesting questions about political resistance. However, it lacks a historical understanding of all the times when popular resistance did work. And yes, we do have to revist moments of resistance, because oppressors do not magically disappear when a just cause succeeds. Some oppressors will reform--most definitely. Many will go underground. Australia ended up with a number of unsavoury white South Africans after apartheid was ended.

Nevertheless, it's good to see what may be going through people's minds.

"Thinkers like Jean-Paul Sartre and Hannah Arendt warned us that the point of this deluge is not to persuade, but to overwhelm and paralyze our capacity to act. More recently, researchers have found that the viral outrage disseminated on social media in response to these ridiculous claims actually reduces the effectiveness of collective action.

The result is a media environment that keeps us in a state of debilitating fear and anger, endlessly reacting to our oppressors instead of organizing against them."

โ€The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the worldโ€™s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. โ€ฆ The takeover and dismantling of USAID is a test case for whether Musk and the Trump regime can destroy a part of government without legal or political resistance. So far, the answer seems to be yes.โ€

Interesting perspectives on the microbiome here.

I always had the somewhat quaint idea that our guts are full of friendly microbes, but what if the microbiome is largely parasitic, at least in the long run?

@richdevine i don't know what it is as i'm dumdum, but i swear the low-end settings of games have just gotten steadily worse really quickly
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

@richdevine I might be taking out of my unqualified arse here, but I suspect a large part of it has to do with the recent move away from fixed or heavily pre-baked environments where much of the load could be pre calculated anf shared between tiers, to more real time calculations like global illumination or grass physics.

Granted Wild's performance to be suffering terrible in PB1, I have to check PB2 though.

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

The skeptic in me blames upscaling tech and frame gen for everything. Devs can just make badly optimized games and rely on AMD/Intel/NVIDIA to do the work to make them better.

Since it's #valve (I donยดt know which engine? Source2?) I wonder if it's worth to consider #VR... if there is such an option?
