The #Inkscape 1.4 will be released in less than 24h and it has some neat features including (but obviously not limited to) "Affinity Designer File Import" and "Support for internal links in exported PDF files".
I know lots of people in #academia use (or used to use) Affinity Designer. This is your chance to go OpenSource and free yourself from that limiting ecosystem.

We could start on an online repository, perhaps on GitLab since #inkscape also uses it?
The one script I have online is for fixing text kerning issues, and is not suitable for an entry-level tutorial on writing small scripts and extensions: https://github.com/acardona/scripts/tree/master/python/inkscape
Also to give here a shout out to the Inkscape Simple Scripting framework, as described https://inkscape.org/~pakin/%E2%98%85simple-inkscape-scripting and available as code to manually install: https://github.com/spakin/SimpInkScr The examples are amusing, and could be adapted: https://github.com/spakin/SimpInkScr/wiki

I've started this:
"Inkscape cookbook for scientists"
https://gitlab.com/acardona/inkscape-cookbook-for-scientists
Currently it's merely a declaration of intentions 😀
Inkscape, Johnny, Inkscape. But you know that already 😀
For figure panels, for posters, even for presentations now with its multi-page documents. Works brilliantly. I could not have done my work as a scientist over the last 20 years without #inkscape.
Inkscape has existed for 20+ years and, thanks to the power of open source, will continue to exist for decades to come, when all these and more subscription services have come and gone.
OK the release candidate for #inkscape 1.3.1 has dropped and If you can, please do me a solid and test the live path effects:
https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.3.1rc/
That is, everything to do with the rounded corners, tapered stroke, super pen/pencil, clones, etc etc you get the idea. It's the one part of the code that I think is at a high risk of crashes and regressions.
You can report bugs to the usual place. I can help if you get a crash and aren't seeing a crash report screen.
Please re-share!

It's that time of year again when I ask people the question "So, what should I be working on in #inkscape next?"
The full poll is open to my Patreon sponsors over at https://www.patreon.com/posts/86464943
No video this week as I'm travelling for a funeral. Sorry everyone! Be back next week with some poll results and a talk about the future for my work on Inkscape.
Check out that shiny shiny book cover (made with #Inkscape)!
