I've been playing around with a laser engraver. #theWorkshop

I had a feeling that it would be a pain in the ass to debug our pedal circuit board while it was inside it's enclosure so I took some time and made a little test bed with some jacks and a power source to help test this little PCB, it made the whole process a whole lot fun so far!

I started making a personal varvara/uxn emulator. mainly for fun, but also I want to maybe modify it for my own needs in the future, and the implementation of uxnemu is waaay over my head right now, so i thought the best way to understand it is to make one from scratch.

so far i'm going over uxn opcodes one by one. though i'd share something, so here are its first words

Putting the youngest to bed and coding while he's asleep next to me. I've written a nice list component that let's you easily browse a lot of data, shuffling rows up and down the screen intuitively. No audio in the gif obviously but the samples play as you select them. I'm adding the ability to record your own samples too, which can be used seriously but I thought my kids would find it funny to record nonsense and sequence it. #playdate #theWorkshop

with the lately implemented chaining J/Y, making an OR of some bangs is as easy as plugging them into a long line of lowercase y, and that's neat

Tape Looper is launched if anyone wants it, each sale will buy me a pint of beer for the rare occasions I get some child-free time: https://orllewin.github.io/playdate/tape_looper/

Circuit boards for the [Open Book](https://github.com/joeycastillo/The-Open-Book/tree/reboot) have arrived! I'm making two, but I have three spares if anyone else would like to build one! #oshw #ebook #theWorkshop

Claimed an hour for myself because my wife's heading out with some of the other mums tonight and the kids are ON ONE.

Anyway, here's 'Tape Looper', I just want to add a couple more features before releasing it on itch.io: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npi0kCOo6jk #theWorkshop #playdate

I picked up knitting again recently. I made this cozy for a mason jar and tried to felt it, but it didn't shrink at all. Oh, well! It fits on a quart jar instead of on the half-quart. #theWorkshop #knitting #felt #masonjar

found this old Print Gocco set at our local reused art supply store - I’m intrigued to see what (if anything) I can do with it!

I think the first step will be rereading @HXLNT’s blog posts on the subject: https://www.nobadmemories.com/blog/2022/05/printmaking-as-play/

Currently playing some more with my website, added my sigil and name on all the pages to tie the whole thing together. I'm thinking of replacing all the illustrations I had on the home page and a couple of other places with new ones in that style.

one of my favourite things about developing Dead End and #minicube64 is how I can see the code and data and get a very intuitive feel about how much room I have to work with. This is what some of it looks like in 16K, the rest of it is uncompressed graphics stuff

today i added a feature to folderkit that let you delay all the received messages by a little amount (from 0 to 1 orca frame time), this amount controlled by sending messages to /w

so now i can have shuffle timings by sequencing messages to /w

#theWorkshop Hi all! I'd like to share what I did for Inktober this year.
It was an exercise in automatic writing/cadavre exquis, which I chose to drive on the theme of archival and memory of digital spaces.
It was super fun to match the random nature of Inktober's prompts with a continuous storyline, without planning ahead. I got to discover the story as I was drawing it. Super fun.

Making some updates on my website, trying to figure out the combination of font sizes, styles and weight I like the most and where to apply them.
