For one Blackboard is easy to play in high card, that's a free 3x. Card Sharp is also much easier to play on high card, that's another free 3x. Stuntman which gives a base 300 chips is very strong, but it reduces your hand size by 2, this is highly negligible for high card. Additionally it is easier to scale with jokers like Burnt Joker and Space Joker. High Card also builds up better with jokers like Ride the Bus and Supernova. It is easier to get Max value out of Raised Fist. Saying they're not playable is just wrong. Being able to play a high score independently of what you draw is very good. Red Stake taking away small blind payouts, Blue Stake taking a discard, Orange Stake making packs cost an arm, and Gold Stake reducing your hand size all hurt flushes considerably.

I'd been wondering for a while why my Digital Ocean bill kept creeping up despite not deploying new stuff. I noticed I was using way more storage in Spaces than expected, even though I'd moved Peertube to Wasabi. Maybe I'd left some videos behind?

Uh, no. I had no idea that Mastodon didn't do media cache clearing on its own until last week. That was added to the docs in 2020 (github.com/mastodon/documentat…) and I spun up this server in 2019.

1.6 TB. Took 4 days to clear 4 years of cache.

@Gargron might consider putting a default of say 30 days into the first install. Setting up a new server is a bit complicated/confusing if you haven't done one before.

Getting your head around everything on day 1 or even day 30 is hard when your focus is on building connections with follows, relays and maybe #FediFetcher. Otherwise it's a recipe for a storage blackhole. Given images can be re-fetched on demand it seems pretty obvious.

Might even save setting up a S3.

Apart from my critiques of crypto in general, this example highlights a major problem for anyone interested in doing democracy on a public, permissionless blockchain: there's no good way to verify identities to prevent sock-puppeting, as this commenter points out. If you're only interested in 1 token = 1 vote (tokenocracy) then you don't need to care about how many wallets one person is voting with, but if you're a 1 person = 1 vote type then this is a big problem, seems to me.
@mstublefield.eth 3d It'd be amazing to run polls/surveys online and ensure that every respondent was unique. Putting this on-chain doesn't achieve that though, does it? Because people could still create multiple accounts with a separate wallet for each and vote with each, right? Or am I missing something? @vocdoni 3d Only wallets that hold a DegenDAO OG and/or a Haberdashery NFT can vote. 1 token = 1 vote. The threshold will always be a % of total wallets, it doesn’t matter if the holders have them distributed in one or different wallets.

Clean room emulation is legal. Yuzu were charging tens of thousands a month in Patreon knowing it was used for piracy. They had a private discord where they distributed pirated roms, patched leaked prerelease games to work on emulation. Its why this was settled so fast. Nintendo is litigious, but Yuzu weren’t some innocent group squashed by a corporation.
