in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

May I recommend mentioning that it is a kernel driver in the title? Whenever I see the news around I always see people thinking that it will replace NVK or something.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Where will this fit into the ecosystem now that we have NVK? Is it a replacement for that as well, is it going to utilitise NVK for Vulkan rendering, etc?

Hey @Girl Of The Sea! Have you seen ? It's an IMAX film and well worth watching on the extra big screen! The Hollywood dramatised version wasn't much to write home about. It was the documentary that had me all emotional and crying beautiful tears at the end!

@Muse So, Miss Muse, when you and Andrew are sailing out in the Antarctic during winter, don't ever turn the engines off to save fuel.

The BBC used generative AI to help draft promotional emails about Doctor Who and got a bunch of complaints. They will no longer use the technology because of that.

This is a bit silly and is akin to complaining that a spell checker was used to send you email spam. There is a lot of Luddite energy around generative AI and overreactions from companies both for and against it

deadline.com/2024/03/bbc-doctoโ€ฆ

in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron It's worth re-reading the story of the actual Luddites. They weren't anti technology. They were trying (in vain, we now know) to protect their livelihoods.

Grasmere Bench

I was heading back to the car as it was starting to rain. I spotted this bench as I hurried past. I decided to head back and grab this shot.

I've actually been back a few times to try to better it, but each time the conditions just haven't been as good.

@RxBrad Iโ€™d be very curious about the actual numbers, as even 5% of their userbase would be a lot in our terms. But what really matters is that high profile accounts do it, the ones who have pull.

@Gargron @RxBrad very small sample and obiously algo biased, but this.

convinced stuff like this is why the game is such a huge success - it lets you have a moment of quiet emotional connection with another random player with the backdrop of oppressive fascist violence.

More games need that kind of TLC.

What a beautiful surprise: @mayfirst just sent out an email to co-op members about my book, #GovernableSpaces. So much in the book is inspired by my own time as a member. This means more than I can say.

Free PR tip, donโ€™t use light coloured links on a light coloured background. Make the Steam page link strong and prominent. This is a bad example:

I almost missed it, thinking it was another random PR email that didnโ€™t even include it.

Have you ever interacted with the Public Interest Technology University Network? They are a New America foundation joint. Do you know of any orgs that are home to, or could be home to, a community of practice? We are looking to connect to work on gov issues across SDOs like the W3C/IETF/IGF/etc but from a more communitarian perspective. Still needs refining, but basically we want to establish transnational polycentric user-agency-focused governance for the entire digital sphere! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜œ

I haven't. That is quite an ambition!

I have been appreciating the governance design of @karrot @nick in the context of foodsharing communities.
