I am currently painting a blue-banded bee pollinating a flower.
Still need to do the one wing, finish the eye, add a right back leg, then lots of little details.

@Muse Moki and ‘Gemma’ The Weeping Fig Tree, would get along perfectly. Indoor house plants, what can you do!
@Muse

This is really freaking me out right now! I think it is just part of @pop_os_official doing a software update, and Pop never adopted the backdoored versions, but still.

When I post about #science & #history, I tend to highlight the trailblazers we don’t usually read or hear about in #HistoryRemix.

But tonight I want to share this beautifully composed piece about Nikola Tesla.

While his inventions are legendary, you may not know how Tesla’s OCD shaped his approach to science & ultimately led to his world-changing ideas. It also left him isolated & alone. But he still experienced deep connection by caring for birds. nautil.us/teslas-pigeon-460446…

The Open Source Software Supply Chain Isn't REAL!! #Linux #YouTube youtu.be/yt0S_xN5b94
in reply to NiceMicro

@nicemicro Here's another example, if you setup a stand that has free fruit on it, the people taking the fruit should not be under the false assumption that you're doing anything more than offering free fruit, if there happens to be no fruit that day or a poor selection of fruit unless they want to start paying you for the fruit there concerns only matter as much as you care about them
in reply to Brodie Robertson

@BrodieOnLinux@linuxrocks.onli.ne Yes. I did not argue with that, even for a second.

The only thing I said is that in your analogy, you shouldn't be surprised that someone took half the oranges and made a lot of money on orange juice without giving anything back to the community.

My argument is, that if as a dev you are concerned for the community, stipulate a license that stipulates that the orange juice one makes of the free orange should also be free.

The turnaround time on this thing is killer. Like if we want to go for Phase II I think we should start on the application as soon as we get Phase I!

As long as the weather cooperates, I’ll be pulling my kids out of school next Monday to drive east into the path of totality during the solar eclipse.

Do you have #eclipse plans?

in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

I've seen a total eclipse twice in my life so we can not justify driving 900 miles to see another one.
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

It is a super hot topic here in Ohio. Totality passes over my house!

There are LOTS of naysayers in the crowd, though. During a meeting yesterday, someone mentioned that the weather was going to be bad, so they are moving it south a few miles. I thought that was the greatest thing i've yet heard.

I am taking the day off, and tyring to get a pass to get to the top of the library of our local university.

There is no democracy without a commons.

This week I am grateful to be discussing #GovernableSpaces on the Frontiers of Commoning podcast with one of my heroes, David Bollier: bollier.org/blog/nathan-schnei…

David's books are a phenomenal intro to the power and craft of commoning.

Also get him to join the fediverse on a nice instance and send my greetings, please.
We're close to finished publishing the patterns in French at languedespatterns.commoning.wi… and there's work in the horizon for debating commoning in times of platform cooperativism and capitalism platform.commoning.wiki

Both may be part of an educational project in the next year with Remix the Commons.

@boris also suggested to look at what is to be protocol commoning.

Here's a fun AI story: a security researcher noticed that large companies' AI-authored source-code repeatedly referenced a nonexistent library (an AI "hallucination"), so he created a (defanged) malicious library with that name and uploaded it, and thousands of developers automatically downloaded and incorporated it as they compiled the code:

It’s time to give Australian courts the power to break up big firms that behave badly

"The so-called Competition and Consumer Amendment (Divestiture Powers) Bill would enable courts to break up firms that misuse their substantial market power under section 46 of the Competition and Consumer Act."

Have you done any testing to ensure the apps you proclaimed so proudly in the past haven't been made abandonware by your inability to stabilize and standardize app interfaces? Your existing users are still sad that you broke PicoCMS, News, Social apps, and more, by your negligence in previous versions. Are you doing better this time?

Will we ever be able to use those abandonware apps again, or are they useless forever now?
