Eugene, you need to add a news aggregation service to Mastadon similar to Apple News. Make it a paid for extra and provide payment back to news companies. It would be a winner for news services and encourage them to join Mastadon. It would also help you attract a larger user base, make money, and challenge Twitter. Apple News is useful but it lacks interaction. Do a deal with them.

Shouldn't there be a vote on that major policy change? Like... Thinking that the "blue checkmark" people are the *only* people with "skin in the game" is bullshit. But OK... And who is this "unfiltered boss..."
Limiting the votes to your fiercest supporters is the best way to ensure you'll not loose a vote like "should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll".
in my personal opinion I believe because it is a private company the fact that votes are happening at all is a bit of a privilege although on the other hand I think popularity contests masked as votes take no consideration for the stability of the platform and is likely sensitive to mob rule.
