The European Union is shining a light on this very question with its investigation into Google's PaLM2 model.

Last Epoch drops the Native Linux version, devs tell players to use Proton gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/last…

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

game dev on Linux is sadly not a great experience. Much simpler to just develop against one code base and then test if things run well on Proton.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

tried the proton version today and no matter what settings it has a disgusting blur effect around the character movement. Vega56 on Arch. I'm sad. Was better before.

Common Threads: The Rise (and Rise, and Rise) of the Mini Skirt

More than any other clothing item, the mini became a symbol of the changing cultural attitudes and the growing impact of youth that defined the 1960s.

New CDC study: 75% of US adults support wastewater monitoring, and 95% say they would take steps to protect themselves if wastewater data showed disease spread was high.

We need to fund wastewater monitoring and include the data in daily weather reports, so everyone is aware.

Get the release at simonrepp.com/feber/ or as a YunoHost app: apps.yunohost.org/app/feber (for the latter might take a little bit for the latest release to be picked up still!)

Thanks for this! I like the church bit. Let us know if you ever want to hear about how we use S76 and self-hosting at CU Boulder!

This is my home in Hurstbridge. We were already downsizing when we moved here. The house is modest, though it has a fair size parcel of land. This is because it is on a very steep incline, so it's not terribly useable and hard to maintain. Which is why I can so easily photograph our roof with the solar panels. However, we get a spectacular view! It was definitely a fixer-upper, but we have done the fixing and the zhuzhing.

We are looking for a place that has very little land and perhaps a house roughly this size. It looks like we will have to find a house that is smaller still. We work from home, so we may be sacrificing the living room and turning that into office space, rather than having a guest bedroom or breakfast nook for that purpose. We shall see what life sends us.

in reply to Muse

We regularly have to replace wooden things outside, because they have been eaten by termites. When the one fence fell down we replaced it with a tastefully green metal fence.

ICYMI: gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/gran…

in reply to cameronbosch

@cameronbosch @macoud12 tbh it reads like a standard support response, what else are they gonna say “nah we’re not doing anything” ??
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@macoud12 Maybe they're trying to work something out. Or maybe if they can't, they'll be able to say "we tried to work with Rockstar, but we can't, therefore we'll give some former GTA Online players refunds".

Oh look, Starlink is continuing to screw up the sky in every way possible.

"Second-Generation Starlink Satellites Leak 30 Times More Radio Interference, Threatening Astronomical Observations"

It's going to be "hilarious" when Starlink messes up the radio sky so badly that radio astronomers can't even use quasars to calibrate GPS anymore. There are so many consequences from all these stupid, cheaply built, disposable satellites. universetoday.com/105160/navig…
