This is so good to see. The people trying to bring in "ranked choice voting" may not understand their politician's reticence. Their politicians may all too readily see that this could lead to a multi-party system, and not just a two-party system. Politicians would have to work harder to secure a political career.

We are campaigning for a permanent and powerful Citizens’ Assembly for Greater Manchester. To put ordinary people, selected like a jury, at the heart of decision-making. This will be an example of democracy done right. The rest of the country and the wider world will have to take note.
While the relics of feudal times are having their abuses of power exposed, ordinary people are leading the way and building a system we can actually trust.

Wouldn't that have been nice if the US actually followed through on their original aspirations? Of course even in the beginning the States had the right to determine who could vote, and it was mostly just the landed "gentry". Universal (white) Manhood Suffrage didn't come until 1856. (White) Women didn't get the vote until 1920. People of colour had to wait until 1965--two years after I was born.

I wonder what vehicle the real minimal Linux corresponds here ? Suse Micro Linux or much earlier Alpine (2005) should depict by a scooter ? Even postmarketOS should be mentioned for mobile devices as kind of matchbox Linux. Embedded Linux is missing ( tiny distros for devices) . Also any kind of special taylored container images with Linux. Only SUSE provides Micro Linux for Docker with less than 200 Mbytes . Linux depends NOT on a grafic window mgr
I have had issue to install Mint on some machines. With @garuda , I have never faced issue so far and other Arch forks can also do the job. Any distro can have installation issue and not all distros serve the same needs. This type of comparison doesn't benefit to #linux and its communities.

The short version of the problem is that we're not all built the same. Eg. it's not how tall you are, it's length of your spine.
For example, when I was thinner and used M-shirts (and lower waist was in fashion for jeans), my belly button used to come out if the shirt was less than around 80 cm tall. It's even worse now, as people are less keen seeing my belly, and sizes bigger than M are for those thicker, but not taller.
what you need to do is to licence the design to somebody like Teespring who print locally and therefore can offer low shipping fees. You’ll make more sales that way. Personally I’m not paying 40% extra for shipping, it’s ridiculous.
@gulfie If you don’t want to pay for shipping, fair. But places like Teespring do not screen print, and don’t offer such control over the fabric (they usually have their own supplier that you don’t get to choose). So no thanks. I’ll keep it bespoke as long as I can.
@gulfie I can’t magic Brexit away. This is how much DHL charges to send a tracked package from Germany to the UK. It probably doesn’t make sense for a single t-shirt, but if you’re buying more stuff that cost stays flat.

I'm always a little uncomfortable about this issue. The UK used to be covered by woodland but most of them have been cleared over the last centuries leaving farmland and a biodiversity desert.
Malaysia where I am at the moment went through mass clearances for rubber production and now they are mostly cleared along with more rainforest for oil palms.
I suspect the alternative would be clearance for other forms of agriculture which is probably even worse.
@X31Andy This argument fails to account for a major issue - #extinction risk. Other crops can be grown on land far less biodiverse than #palmoil. Palm oil can only be grown on razed and destroyed tropical rainforest, where the highest number of animals and plants live. That's ONE THING. Another is that there is now #palmoil made from microbes, carbon dioxide, fungi and algae being generated and commercialised. This is made in a lab and requires ZERO DEFORESTATION to produce. So which would you prefer? More here

I know things seem dark right now, but creators have the means to point people in the right direction, so that we can pass through the challenges we now face in the US and out the other side to a better world. And I do mean world, not just the United States.
We have to have clear and hopeful dreams for what can be. The clearer our dreams, the faster our changes can come into being
I am calling upon our patriot storytellers to join me for a talk on Hopecore worldbuilding. What would a United States worth living in look and feel like? What would we need to do to make it a reality? What national and cultural changes would we need to pursue? And how do we build these ideas into stories that inspire?
This is an extension of my Hopecore talk, but the focus is solely on world building.
