in reply to Brodie Robertson

That title is kinda clickbait lol. I initially thought this would be a video on an article ranting about how linux went downhill.

Typical Seth Abramson

Rather than ask friends to ask @Gargron or his admin, he just goes off in public. It was probably a mistake, just as mine was. He blocks all his many critics. Heaven forbid someone should block him back. Post .news is probably rewarding him for this caterwauling.

in reply to Shoq

I looked him up, he was on mstdn.social, nothing to do with me, though it seems he’s also confusing it with mastodon.social
in reply to Eugen Rochko

He gets a lot of things confused. King of the 1000 tweet threads.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

As someone who has endured this blowhard's conspiracy theories for years (debunking many of them), he will get traction for this. His gullible stans are legion. You may want to officially respond via Medium or some other venue. The fact that it's not even your domain, should make him look appropriately ridiculous. He is flat-out defaming you and the entire network. You may even want to consult with your attorney.
in reply to Shoq

I looked him up and the tweet where he links to that article. "A Harrowing Tale That Explains Why Everyone Who Is on Mastodon Should Get Off It Right Now. Please share this important information with anyone you know who is currently on Mastodon. I do not want what happened to me to happen to others." Of course, the replies are disabled, so there is no way to respond without giving him attention.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

I would like to suggest that at some future point that txt in “” be italicized. So that people can clearly see a quote statement and not conflate it with the posters statements like I almost just did. Just a thought.

Look up!

Mars slips behind the Moon tonight (called an "occultation") for viewers in most of the U.S. If you're in the East Coast or the Southeast, the Moon will appear to just barely graze past Mars.

In Valencia (Spain) the occultation of Mars by the Moon will occur at 6:21:49 CET and will end at 7:08:06 CET tomorrow, December 8, but unfortunately it will be cloudy.

Germany raids far-right group over plot to install prince in coup

Germany on Wednesday detained 25 members and supporters of a far-right group that the prosecutor's office said was preparing a violent overthrow of the state to install as national leader a prince who had sought support from Russia.

Prosecutors said the group was inspired by the deep state conspiracy theories of Germany's Reichsbuerger and QAnon, whose advocates were among those arrested after the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021.

Members of the Reichsbuerger (Citizens of the Reich) do not recognise modern-day Germany as a legitimate state. Some of them are devoted to the German empire under monarchy, while some are adherents of Nazi ideas and others believe Germany is under military occupation.

in reply to Joseph Teller

Yes the royalty of Germany and Austria had their titles made moot and their lands seized at the end of the war, as did the Ottoman Empire, but still they kept track of these things among themselves etc. Nothing new, same happened when the French Revolution happened (not all of them were inside the country to be beheaded), and the collapse of other monarchies at various points in history. Still they and some amount of surviving retinues and descendants evidently hold on to their history and hope (and history has shown weirder things, Remember that Charles I of England was Beheaded, and then so was the man who did the deed, and then Charles II took the throne after him).
in reply to Joseph Teller

Will their first order of business be to chase away the Romans? Or to fight Napoleon, perhaps.

AND there will be a rare occultation of Mars by the full moon this evening.

But I live in Ohio.

And it's raining.

in reply to NASA

Of course you had to launch it at night. How else would you be able to see the moon?

And yes, I know you can see the moon during the day sometimes. But it's hard, and that makes navigation hard.
