I decided to make Fedfree official, with a link to it from libreboot.org:

libreboot.org/news/fedfree.htm…

Fedfree's goal goes far beyond self-hosting. One of my main agendas is to actually establish a manifesto of sorts, talking about not just libre software, but libre hardware aswell - the self-hosting tutorials tie into that because you can't have freedom unless you have the ability to share your ideas without restriction.

Fedfree's mission is to promote freedom of all kinds, related to technology.

OBS 29 just dropped, the new version isn't on Flathub yet. When I tried the beta, hardware encoding was dead because the KDE runtime hasn't been rebuilt does anyone know if that has been dealt with or we're just shipping a useless version of #OBS #Linux

Today Brazil suffered an attempt by fascistic terrorists to overthrow the government. I just want to make it clear that I'm safe... Just VERY distressed.

This attempt was inspired by the Capitol Riot episode, the guy who lost the last election has already ran away to Florida.

I can't do anything about it at the moment, but the responsible people are being arrested.

Now on a lighter note, what I can do now is taking care of my family and doing some art. So that's what I'm doing. #news

@n0r That just happened to tbe logo I grabbed, I didn't even know it was for an existing program
@n0r
in reply to Brodie Robertson

Qwertz isn't a program but a group of keyboard layouts where Z ant Y are swapped so Y ends up next to X. The logo you grabbed was probably made by someone with such a keyboard layout.
I'm aware you're from a qwerty-country though (australia, do I remember correctly?) so I was joking (hence the smiley).

Our biweekly #IndieGame stream is kicking off! @gregoryaveryweir is streaming Hypnagogia 無限の夢 Boundless Dreams by @sodaraptor over at twitch.tv/gregoryaveryweir/ for the next 2-3 hours. This kind of surreal dreamscape game is exactly Gregory's jam. We'll be chatting about game design as they play. #FutureProofGames

that's nice, but the real great news will be that, current and future software are open, available and using open standards too.

Nice article! I like your assertion that it's a console, always felt odd when people were adamant that it's not
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@gamingonlinux Why not both? If you ignore switch to desktop, it's the same experience as the Switch. I'd say it's a handheld console and a handheld PC
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@gamingonlinux @rubenwardy if it truly is a handheld PC then why aren't the Ayaneo and GPD devices considered competitors? And why doesn't it ship with Windows?

Checkmate. 😉

in reply to Gardiner Bryant

@rubenwardy they are technically competitors, in the same way the AMD and NVIDIA are competitors for your money

Are you really going down the hole of PC means Windows?

It would be very interesting to also correlate this with a timeline of when these origins were "discovered"? NASA - can do?

What are the gold colored ones like 43 Technetium? Seems there's 7 colors used, but only 6 in the key table (?).

Cool as f* though. 😀

“The apparent exodus is a shock to the academic system that some researchers didn’t see coming but that others say has been palpable for quite some time — and is a trend only set to continue. ‘The majority of senior academics still don’t understand how fast this is coming,’ says Daniel MacArthur, a population geneticist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, Australia.

“Early-career scientists are not missing a beat, however.”

In 1952, Katherine Johnson heard there were open positions at the all-Black West Area Computing section at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics’ (later NASA) Langley laboratory.

With far too many accomplishments to list, her work was fundamental to marking a turning point in the space race with the Soviet Union. nasa.gov/content/katherine-joh…

In 2015, President Obama awarded Johnson the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She passed away in 2020 at 101. #history #space #HistoryRemix

.@APoD One minor punch up would be a metric for elements that are the result of decay of other elements. IE Radon is present from uranium decay.

Right now there's a flood going through the Riverland and seeing as though my parents are out that way I thought I should take a look, the pictures don't even begin to show how much water there really is, that last picture isn't a boat ramp, that's a road.

I make bread but am terrible at cutting it; all my slices end up wonky.

I suspected that if you cool it in the fridge first, it's waaaaaaay easier to cut and manage. 😄

And it works! Nice!

@Julia recommended for people interested in patreon-funding a server, or including masto in a community feed/bundle/guild/union for creatives freelance or otherwise...
in reply to bumblefudge

or consider Open Collective, which we use at #Socialcoop. Unlike Patreon it is built on a culture of open source and shared governance, as well as transparency by default.
in reply to Nathan Schneider

@ntnsndr @ben @bengo @dmitri @Julia oh I love open collective! It's definitely a fit for many masto server crowdfunding contexts, but Steady is partic interesting to me cuz it bundles a lot of functions (mailing list/newsletter management, etc) into a payment system. Core or experimental AcPub tech components could definitely be OC'd, those repos have way more than 100 🌟!

Press the "chaos" button to have your food hurtling through space and time! If by pure bad luck you accidentally send it into a black hole, that is known as "panacrunch".

  • I once did a comedy routine whereby I had a time machine oven that would "uncook" anything you put into it. Put in a cup of coffee, out comes milk, hot water, sugar, and coffee grounds. Put in a roast chicken, out comes an egg! It then goes wrong and I end up doing the routine in reverse. Most difficult bit of memorisation I have ever done! Or "Done ever have I memorisation of bit difficult most!"
