A Spider-Man comic that advocates for public libraries. To begin, a librarian checks in books that Peter Parker has returned. He offers a running commentary on each book as she lists the titles and is horrified that Aunt May checked out Fifty Shades of Grey. After checking in all the books, she tells him he has $452.86 in late fees. Also, lots of the books are damaged and “weirdly sticky?” So Peter agress to do a Spider-Man story time, though the librarian isn’t aware he’s actually Spider-Man. As he works the story time, the librarian and her colleague watch while drinking tea. Her colleague says that this guy is braver than the real Spider-Man to which she replies his glutes could be the real Spider-Man’s and that he “really fills out a pair of blue sweats.” After the story time is over the librarian flirtatiously gives Peter her card and asks him to “Text me sometime, Mr. Grey.”

i don't, but probably would if we had a decent no. of LED blubs in the house. Godawful mix of led, cfl in every possible combination of shape, thread size, both bayonet & edison screw. Some of the bulbs of a given type go in one fitting but won't go in another. House lighting to be redone ... one day #aroundtuit

I am responsible for pretty much all the light fittings in this house (we built), and we still have a combination of ES and BC, and some weird European PL-S fittings (on the veranda). Lesson here is, don't buy your light fittings at auction unless you check the bulb type first!

I'll replace them all with ES at some point (I used to prefer BC, but frankly the ES ones get less bugs in them outside).

It’s easy to get the idea that “that’s a problem for those 250000 years from now, not us”, but they have it backwards. It’s gonna be a problem for everyone up until then.

That said, my biggest prio is the most imminent destructions, with a special focus on climate change, and right now, it seems to me that fossils are worse than nuclear.

I like bringing up the issue of surveillance capitalism & how wasteful of (in all fairness, green) energy it is. Not to argue that it is any worse than proof-of-work blockchain. But rather because its more immediate to most people, & is more fundamental to our current digital economy.

Yes! But I'm becoming a li'l bit careful since many communist economic systems and technologies don't deal with the externalities issue particularly well, either.

For example, Fediverse has some wasteful aspects, such as relay servers and other attempts to make everything mirror everything (which is another reason why The Whole Known Network and Discover need to die idiomdrottning.org/fedi-wishli… )

Also, "green electricity", I don't want to dismiss "wallet voting" (we def can't support fossils directly!) but I want some dialectics with the idea that ultimately since 80% of power on Earth is fossil, all use of power is something to do sparingly, so I agree with you on that.

I'm further speculating that these proceedings are intentionally limiting themselves to Trumo's crimes for that reason (despite the injustice there). If El Trumo is the (only) sacrificial goat, perhaps some of the others will not be aroused to suicidal violence.
