We need to find a way to get the @pixelfed developer Patreon higher.... @dansup needs to cover more development time to get that platform stable.

I could imagine him taking a percentage point off meta stock if we have enough people migrate from Instagram, and stay around.

Hmm, never had the connection with cute pertaining to the last one:

cute had become a receptacle for all these related ideas: aesthetic charm, minuteness, childhood, femininity

In my book a sharp dressed young boy in a wicked Halloween costume is also soundly cute, and very much not feminine 😉 But the bones of the tale are clear, American use has it tangled up into femininity and the use of the term as a description of someones idea or plan are derogatory, that is to say, nowadays. I liked the 'old way' a lot better..
It makes you wonder how a term used to describe someone sharp, witty and smart became almost the opposite, and in general totally focused on appearance.

Oh wow! Oh wow! Did I just say, "Oh wow?" Let me say it again!

Gosh darn it! I want to see the rest of this review, but more importantly I want to see this film.
I absolutely love the Heartstopper graphic novels AND the Netflix TV series. This looks more than a little like it's in a similar category.

Hollywood’s first gay date movie flopped in the US — but it’s actually a winner

Time for another #introduction for the newcomers 😀 I'm an astronomer and science communicator at the European Southern Observatory.

In my previous life I used to study how galaxies form and evolve. I also helped my peers get their data as a support astronomer at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile. I now work full time as Media Officer at ESO's HQ in Germany.

I'm also an avid astrophotographer! Below is a pic of my previous "office" in Chile. 🤩

Globales Userverzeichnis???

Because I am awaiting my editor to review the latest draft of my novel, I am 'surfing' the Web for cool stuff I had forgotten about.
Today's entry: Wesley Lindamood (lindamood.org) who I met when we were presenters at a Digital Creators conference a lifetime ago. He is now the user experience designer at Library of Congress. He had been with NPR. Here is one story he helped with which is absolutely stunning, still: apps.npr.org/tshirt/#/title

Beautiful birds ❤️ We get a lot of lorikeets and sometimes Rosellas, but never really see King Parrots in my part of Melbourne.
in reply to Becinator

@artdragon86 They are indeed. The lorikeets sometimes come down to the veranda, but mainly stay in the treetops. We sometimes get Crimson Rosellas coming in for a feed, but the Pale-headed ones stay in the trees and have no wish to socialise with humans.

in reply to Paul

@PaulfromOz Yes, they're very much like that, all of them. There's usually one that is bottom of the flock per se, but they all have a go at each other initially, or when the seed piles are getting low.

I have posted another excerpt of my draft of Hiram Falls, my first novel written in what is now my Third Life. I'd love your thoughts, subscribe if you wish (it is free). Here it is (text AND audio): geoffreygevalt.substack.com/p/… (To make full sense of it, you may have to read this first: geoffreygevalt.substack.com/p/…)

Mostly, though, I'd love your thoughts. Feedback is so important at this stage.

@injenuity yes. I live in Vermont and the novel takes place in a made-up place in northern Bermont near the Canadian border.

I wanted to let you know I'm officially off Twitter and I am indebted to all of you (in the early Twitter days) for helping me in my then-project, Young Writers Project. Your knowledge, willingness to share and help were greatly appreciated.
I look forward to further interaction here, even though I've drifted from YWP & am doing my own learning while doing: a novel. (It's with the editor.) Sorry for hijacking the thread. Laziness.

Well, it's Mastodon for me. Today I deleted my Twitter account. The explosion of vile posts following the takeover by the billionaire was more than I can abide. I was an early adopter. Had an account for Young Writers Project when T. first launched. But it's outlived its usefulness. I prefer civility. I hope to get to know you all better now that I'm back.
in reply to Geoffrey Gevalt

Welcome (back?) to the #fediverse. I've not been on Twitter since like last week or so, I can only imagine the drivel.

And how are you? Are you writing much these days?

And, yes, do share some of your stories from the past...

I commented that I would frame and put on a wall one of my friends Thuan Nguyen's ink sketches for Inktober, it was sooo cute...and guess what? He sent it to me! Desmond insisted I include him in the photo. Here the sketch is framed. Amazing, amiright! It's now sitting on one of my bookshelves. Thank you, Thuan!

Working on the Tardis repairs today. First foot done. Pretty happy I managed to cut and weld four pieces of angle iron together and it is still square and not warped.

Only 7 more to go.

Very interesting thread on Twitter and the Musk take over, by one of the founders of Reddit. Worth your time, even if I don't agree with everything that is said.
