2. #emacs (IDE)
3. #emacs (mail client)
4. #emacs (file browser)
5. Does #firefox count as a #linux application? If not, then #emacs (web-wowser)

Also:
- #emacs (IRC client)
- #emacs (note taking system)
- #emacs (terminal emulator)
- #emacs (git manager)
- #emacs (news reader)
- #emacs (RSS reader)
- #emacs (private password manager interface)

OK. I think I have made my point.

That depends entirely on the desktop environment I use. 😀

Generally, #Zim is the offline wiki-like note taking program that I need. I also live in #Orgmode often, although not in #Emacs.

Other than that, everything else like calendars, timers, contacts and such are hosted on #Nextcloud on my raspi home server.

Tinkering around with a FRACTRAN library I wrote in Common Lisp :^)

I was too lazy to add sequential functions, but it is possible if you assign a unique prime to each function (as it will permit only that function)

Prime numbers just happen to be a powerful way to express the concept of "distinct" objects. In this case, the "objects" are registers/memory addresses. Might try replacing primes with strings...

Sad news: The Living Computer Museum in Seattle won't reopen and the collection, including the historic PDP-10, pivotal to the origins of #Emacs and #FreeSoftware, is set to be auctioned. One of their PDP-10, the second to be named AI, still has MIT's "Deactivated Property" sticker prominently displayed on the front panel. What will become of these technological treasures? It's a moment for reflection on how we preserve our digital heritage. https://www.geekwire.com/2024/seattles-living-computers-museum-logs-off-for-good-as-paul-allen-estate-will-auction-vintage-items/ #TechHistory #SoftwareFreedom

#Emacs since almost 30 year’s now. I even maintain my own fork of Mg #MicroEmacs 🤓

#emacs was my first, and it will be my last 😄

the editor wars #vi vs #emacs are over #vi won.
The current editor war is #vim vs #nvi

Use Semantic Tokens from the language server for fontification in #Emacs. And I am working on it.
(Remember: those who ask take the risk to get an answer.)

I am happy with #PasswordStore which works in Android together with #OpenKeyChain based on #PGP / #GnuPG. You can sync with your computer either using git (i used a local git at my pc or alternatively with a folder in your mobile and then, using #syncthing). When I need to check in the pc I just use #emacs to open the gpg file. I am happy with this solution as it relies in gpg and it does need no private clouds. So far I only miss token integration (I should check whether is possible)

GNU #emacs. It replaced VS Code and Neovim for me. The terminal version serves better than Neovim, and the graphical one is more feature-complete and extensible than VS Code.

I want it to be #emacs, I just haven't got the courage to try it out "in anger" yet.

@danialbehzadi I knew instantly the headline was BS so I didn’t watch the video. How do I know this, you might ask… because only #emacs users know what is the most important text editor on linux.

Experimenting with making #emacs #chatgpt shell source blocks compilable.

Could save time discarding things that don't build. Or asking to fix them. What do you think?

I've been looking for a nice Emacs theme for the past few months. I made this one, but I'm not sure I want to spend the time needed to complete it. 😅 #Emacs

If someone can recommend a nice old school theme, please do!

#Emacs company-org-block now shows previews as docs.

Thank you Jen-Chieh Shen for the pull request.

It should reach MELPA soon https://melpa.org/#/company-org-block

#emacs Book mode is an attempt at offering an interface for reading org-mode files with a clean layout. It is based on the use of large margins, headline and mode-line, with leading stars and bullets in the left margin using right alignment and different symbols. All decorations are part of the header-line (including upper left colored part and right upper glyph) and messages are displayed in the mode-line. Code at https://github.com/rougier/book-mode
