Based on the-federation.info, it looks like over the last ~3 days #Fediverse added about four BlueSky's worth of active users. :blobcatgiggle:

That spike there is roughly 800k monthly active accounts.

Obviously measuring this is difficult, and there are weird bumps like the one about a month ago (visible on the chart), but this time it is confirmed by other metrics sources.

Not all of #NewHere will stay, just like in previous waves. But many will. And it will make fedi more diverse and fun. 🎉

@Gargron While there is certainly room for improvement, and improvements to threading do seem to be on the roadmap (https://joinmastodon.org/roadmap), threading in Mastodon is actually pretty good.

Here is a pretty (...way too?) detailed explainer on how to thread in Mastodon:

👋 Hi, this is the official Medium account on our new instance! This is our home on @me.dm, where we’ll be boosting writers and publications, sharing stories, and trying to deepen our understanding of Mastodon and the fediverse.

To get started, we thought we’d share this list of resources about getting up and running if you, like us, are new here: https://scottlamb.blog/list/f4843d1cc80f

Hi everybody - time for our #newhere #introduction in English: the #openscience team at @unibern ist now on @mastodon as well. We'll be talking about #OpenAccess #OpenData #ScholComm scholarly #publishing #repositories and the like. We'll also feature new #OA #publications that come out on our infrastructures. We're looking forward to (more) good discussions!

Right, time for a proper re #introduction post since we're now on indiepocalypse.social. Boosts very welcome!

We're Exilian, and we're a democratic, volunteer-run community of creative geekery. We've existed at the https://exilian.co.uk website and forums since 2008: we support our members and the public more generally in indie and hobbyist creative or academic projects, wherever they are in the world.

To that end, we run the forum, publish articles about random interesting bits of information, host virtual meetups and events, run competitions and writing projects, and more besides. Our projects cover indie gamedev, writing, tabletop games, game modding, independent music and drama, and other eclectic oddments. We're excited to be here & would love to talk about the cool things you're making!

A short thread will follow of a few of the sorts of things we've done and supported, to give you a flavour 😀
