Solar farms can help INCREASE biodiversity.

Critics often claim that they are an environmental disaster leading to a loss in biodiversity.

But research shows: Solar farms tend to have more species of plant, insect & bird than equivalent farm fields.

in reply to 🅰️nt⊡nio Vid⁂l

in reply to 🅰️nt⊡nio Vid⁂l

in reply to 🅰️nt⊡nio Vid⁂l

in reply to Sursiendo

in reply to Sursiendo

I continue to be flummoxed by stuff like this. I'm on Mastodon Social. @Aviation_Librarian is on Mastodon Online. Both are operated by Mastodon gGmbH (basically, @Gargron). Why in the heck do I now need to click through to see more replies on Mastodon Online? What am I being protected from, especially since Eugen runs both shows? #SMH

@Aviation_Librarian It seems odd that I have been here regularly for quite a while, yet have never seen those notifications until today.

I absolutely adore the original film. That said something that often seems to be missing from franchise spinoffs after, including this trailer, is the sense of satire suggesting that the Federation may actually be a propaganda spewing cause of the war with the bugs rather than just the "might is right" good guys.

I miss the poking fun at unthinking American militarism that I loved in Starship Troopers.

It's nice to see someone talking sense about the whole blue light silliness!

How much does your phone’s blue light really delay your sleep? Relax, it’s just 2.7 minutes

It’s one of the most pervasive messages about technology and sleep. We’re told bright, blue light from screens prevents us falling asleep easily. We’re told to avoid scrolling on our phones before bedtime or while in bed. We’re sold glasses to help filter out blue light. We put our phones on “night mode” to minimise exposure to blue light.

But what does the science actually tell us about the impact of bright, blue light and sleep? When our group of sleep experts from Sweden, Australia and Israel compared scientific studies that directly tested this, we found the overall impact was close to meaningless. Sleep was disrupted, on average, by less than three minutes.

in reply to Muse

...and it probably has nothing to do with the color of the light but the activity, interest, arousal etc.
in reply to Muse

I wonder how much of the perceived sleep disruption was psychosomatic? (i.e. you are told blue light can have a detrimental effect on sleep quality, and so you subconsciously make it so.)

It's happening! My book about Mastodon and the fediverse is now entering the production phase!
