@Gargron This article is based off of information that was originally making rounds in 2016. In 8 years since, there was never **any concrete evidence** showing that they can actually do this. None.
Considering that adtech is rife with fraud (to the tune of $billions swindled from advertisers annually), a more likely explanation is that this is just a bunch of grifters with a pitch deck looking to score off of gullible advertisers.

Square Enix invests in Playtron for their Linux-based PlaytronOS - first Alpha out now
Playtron are quietly building up their Linux-based PlaytronOS behind the scenes, and not only have they released their first Alpha but they've pulled in another investor too.Liam Dawe (GamingOnLinux)
What is this marketing though?
Like gtfo, you're building off of Valve's work, you even reference Lutris and Heroic Games Launcher and claim that SteamOS is 'Compatible with Steam only' and 'Locked to the Valveverse' like what?
I'm not even saying that a gaming distro not tied to Valve's ecosystem is a bad thing, but the desperation to paint SteamOS as on par with Windows is absurd.

This made me laugh:
4 Bavarian tourists visited Leavenworth. Here’s what they thought
"We are a group of journalists living and working in Austria, two of us were born in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Here in Seattle this summer, we attended a summer school at the University of Washington about solutions journalism, a story approach that usually does not include beer tasting.
"Before we even landed, fellow travelers on the plane started to recommend a visit to the “Bavarian village up there.” As journalists, we started our research: Was there a long-lost German community in the Cascades? An enclave, forgotten by its own ancestors? But it was far easier: The whole Bavarian theme was a marketing ploy."
When I was growing up we would regularly visit Leavenworth: sometimes on the way to summer Bible camp, sometimes on the way to a ski vacation. Many years later after having visited Germany a few times, I went back and found the whole place as comical as the above tourists did!
