As promised there is now a guide along with templates (and even banners!) for developers to make their own project updates to upload to the Pine64 community blog.

The guide will continue to get updated when possible.

That's amazing! This was certainly not on my bingo card.

The Homebrew community for the Saturn is a small but quite dedicated group of people. I can only imagine what good things may come from this.

Lai-nus or Lee-nus? ๐Ÿค” Hear it straight from the man himself! ๐ŸŽค

in reply to It's FOSS

Lee-noos is the original native version.
Lai-noos is the basterdized americanized version.

I respect the original version, just like respectful Americans respect terms like Baja desert (Baha), or bourgeoisie.

I have a rhetorical question. If you were to join an activity group on a Sunday (something like chess or knitting club--it doesn't matter), what hours would be most convenient to you? Would six, seven, or eight pm work for you, or would you find these too late on the evening before a work day?

Asking for a friend... XD

in reply to Muse

@Rod Mesa I also was reading KJV and British fiction as a kid. I read even more British fiction when I was working on my degree in English! I started out using British spellings, then realised I was posturing. Many of the people in my classes were posturing. We were all trying to look like the ones with taste, culture, and status. We were buying into hierarchy--what the US was trying to escape by dumping a British king.

So, I started to weed out my pretentions. Then I moved to Australia. LOL! Now I am expected to write using British English. Mind you Australians are confused about who they are and how they should use their language. Here we have a British way of writing things, a US way of writing things because our newspapers leaned into that, and an Australian way enshrined in government publication manuals. So long as I am working in publishing I have to know all three. However, whatever I choose I am wrong, because I am a stupid American! Bigotry is as bad as posturing.

in reply to Muse

Yeah, grade school disabused me of a lot of Britishsims. Junior high, which is now called Middle School, (talk about pretentious,) weeded out any remaining usage while exposing me to various regional dialects which are far more colorful than standard American English.

>first step, install the latest flathub...
...and, you already lost me.

I don't know why people like to overcomplicate this. ssh/sftp gets the job done securely, or if you don't need the encryption overhead, standard ftp or smb also get the job done. Total Commander on Android supports all of these file transfer methods. Unless you manage to develop a protocol that smashes poor WLAN transfer speeds, we don't really need to clog our systems with more new competing standards.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

Leica has had a rough weekend on Threads after an attempt to romanticize their gear more than the community could handle.

It's pretty wild, and the story is still developing.

I wrote about it here: analog.cafe/comments/m8yj

Good to see a new update and moves to more community editions. I always wished that Pine actually charged about $40 more per PinePhone/Pro/Note, but just put that extra money towards paying for software support for the most important things the community wasn't likely to pick up. The PPP could have been a huge success with some strategic development support. I still would love to see a decent midrange phone style device with mainline support for all the main hardware and power management.

My friends at @nextcloud have launched a Digital Sovereignty Index. While not perfect, it gives a fascinating insight into which countries self-host and thus control their digital destiny.

in reply to jzakotnik

I am also surprised by the definition of Dig Sovereignty: "Digital Sovereignty refers to a country's ability to control and govern its own digital infrastructure and data.". If you live in an authoritarian regime (and as we see any democracy can eventually become one), the country can very well control the digital infrastructure, but for the institutions and people within the country it is the opposite of sovereignty. This is a much better definition: cio.bund.de/Webs/CIO/DE/digitaโ€ฆ

Debian turned 32 today! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ’ก The Debian project was officially founded on August 16, 1993, by Ian Murdock. This day is also known as Debian Day.

The word "Debian" was formed as a portmanteau of the first names of himself and his then-girlfriend (later ex-wife) Debra Lynn.

There is a new short domain name for #PuTTY!

putty.software/

At present, this is just a "landing page": a nice short name to remember, which will redirect you to the full PuTTY website at the same longer URL where it's always been.

But unlike putty.org or other third-party landing pages, this one is run by us, the actual PuTTY team, and it doesn't have a weird separate agenda of its own.

I intend to move the main PuTTY site over to that domain in the future, and leave just a redirector at the old location. But first I want to get the word out, so that people know which site to trust.

If anyone is still linking to putty.org, here's a place to link to instead. Please spread the word!
