I have observed some of the same simply by having my Mastodon account bridged to it. The interesting thing is that the person in the screenshot has been on the fediverse since at least 2018 and how differently they seem to remember it.

Hey Fedi, here’s an Advent of Code solution written in Gleam: git.sr.ht/~nebunez/aoc_2015/tr…

Shouts out to the Gleamlins in their Discord that helped me transform my code from shitty to pritty.

Now, good night.

I'm giving a talk this morning at TU Dublin for Visual Artists Ireland's annual 'Get Together'. The event is for artists and arts workers.

They gave me the working title 'Grassroots Technologies', and I decided to stick with that name, though I might end up talking more about roots than tech. More radicle, less radical.

ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE as Trump's GOONS Do the UNTHINKABLE

"Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian expose how ICE agents violently detained 15-year-old Baldemar Gutierrez, a U.S. citizen with disabilities, at gunpoint outside Arleta High School—defying a federal court order banning racial profiling. They break down how agents dragged the special needs student from his mother's car without cause, then lied about him being related to an MS-13 gang member when he's actually Mexican-American with no connection to their target. One agent callously said this would make "a great story to tell." The hosts explain how this violates the Fourth Amendment and Judge Frimpong's restraining order barring agents from using race or location as grounds for detention. With a $1 million lawsuit filed, this shows why civil courts remain our last defense against Trump's authoritarian raids."

Whenever people talk about embedding alt text into images, I remember that lots of gif search services already try to do that.

Here's BlueSky's gif service. I searched for some popular memes. Each had alt-text baked in.

Take a look and tell me if you think that the embedded text conveys the sentiment of the image? If you couldn't see the animation, would you understand what was going on from that alt?

*read this in the most stereotypical farmers accent you know*

"Yup. We all dream of leaving the busy city life for a simpler, more easy going life taking care of a farm.

But then you stop for a second to think what you gotta do to take care of your Stardew like farm.
Wake up early ass in the morning. Take care of your animals.

Stress out and hoping they don't get sick and die. Same shit with the crops. Go financial broke because a bad harvest.

The simple farming life style."

The #ClimateCrisis is not just about #carbon molecules in the air. It is about who puts them there and who pays the price. French economist #ThomasPiketty warns that if class inequality is ignored, climate policy will fail. The wealthiest emitters are flying in #PrivateJets, buying oversized cars, and taking short distance flights while ordinary households struggle with rising costs for energy, food, and housing.

Someone Needs To Do a 'Follow The Money':

Or Follow The Property Ownership.... A lot of the people having their Visas and Permanent Resident Status revoked on the "Whims" of the Current Administration are actually property owners . They own Homes, businesses etc. in many cases as do their family members.

I have a NASTY suspicion that they are being targeted because someone or some developer is picking up their property for a song, in some states a quick grab for unpaid real estate taxes can mean they lose the property if they are not here to pay it. Property is changing hands in major cities out of this and the surrounding suburbs because of the events.... who Benefits is key. I think Trump's allies and sons could easily be the ones buying up real estate this way...

Unfortunately I don't know any working Journalists any more to put this suggestion to....

The Ndlovu Youth Choir was formed in 2009 at a childcare facility in Elandsdoorn, Limpopo, South Africa. They are all grown up now, but are not about to change the name. They released their first album in 2019 after appearing on the TV competition show America's Got Talent, when they made it to the final round.

Here they are singing Nessun Dorma. WOW! I'm not crying...you are!

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

#Google once promised to run “carbon free 24 hours a day seven days a week 365 days a year” by 2030. But five years later the company has quietly deleted its net zero pledge from its sustainability website rebranding the section and moving the goal into an appendix.

The shift comes as #AI data centres drive surging energy use. Google’s power consumption jumped 26% in 2024 nearly matching #Ireland ’s and the #Trump administration pressures #corporations to roll back #climate goals.

The "Department of War" website has this image (left) purporting to show locations of U.S. military around the world. These guys aren't even pretending to be competent. Yes sure we have tons of bases in Russia & China. Western Europe, nope. Even if they were counting the presence of USMC guards at U.S. embassies, the map wouldn't look like that at all.

Kegseth's morons could've just checked Wikipedia (right)

Alright Fedi. This is going to be my more far fetched question as of yet.

Do any of you happens to have, lying in a box somewhere, a Photo CD? And if so, would you be willing to part with it?

Just to clear any possible confusion, I’m specifically looking for a disc in the Photo CD format, not a CD-R on which pictures have been stored as files. Here is the article on the subject: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photo_CD.

Boosts are appreciated, as my search has not been fruitful this far.

I remember seeing this when it was first on Australian TV. Still funny!

What do I like most about Linux?

What I like most about Linux is what it DOESN’T do:

It doesn’t spy on me. It doesn’t force me to spend money. It doesn’t deny me access to my hardware or my software. It doesn’t dictate when, where, or HOW I can use my computer.

That’s what they mean when they use the term “free.”

Not “free” as in money, because one should always support the development of the software they use whenever possible, but free as in FREEDOM.

@Gargron @isaaclyman #Deezer has a report button but you get zero feedback if you make a report. Feels like shouting into the wind. Reported a fake single from #DorianElectra that's been up since July with an obviously not the artist album cover. Crickets so far.
